My husband's account is with Wells Fargo. Well, it didn't start out as Wells Fargo. Names and ownership have changed many times through the years. He's had his account there since the covered wagon days.

I'm watching Wells Fargo closely but he has two pensions and his social security directly deposited there and one direct debit and, to be honest, I just don't have it in me to get all that changed right now.

I bank with Suntrust- love them.

Don't even get me started on Bank of America.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

I would never deal with Wells Fargo for moral reasons having nothing to do with this case.  However, I can say...they are NOT the only ones doing this !

My mom and I had a joint account at Key Bank for a very long time.  Every transaction included a hard sell.  A silly deposit took forever as the tellers continually tried to upgrade/change/add....it was ridiculous!  Even at the drive in!  Seriously?  There are now 4 cars piled up behind as she was 'opening' a new and better account for me.

I clearly said NO and yet it was done.

No matter which branch I went to...same thing.  It was clear to me the HARD sell was their policy.  I truly feel sorry for anyone working under those high pressure situations.

I can't tell you how many times I had to call back because changes were made that I NEVER authorized.

Of course, they were ALWAYS for my benefit and they just couldn't understand why I was insisting on the closure or removal of these additional accounts and benefits.

Mom refused to let me change banks.  Once she passed...I went to Key to close the account.

As usual, I was hassled and negotiated with.  She told me I was making a major mistake closing such a long tenured account.  It took 45 mins. for me to close that!  I even had to wait so the Bank Mgr. could come over and lecture me.

I told him I would not deal with a bank that opened lines/accounts/made changes without my consent.  He claimed they would NEVER do that.

As w/ Wells Fargo...he is wrong.

My mom has been with Key Bank for 50 plus years (or it's various previous incarnations). I hate that bank.

She is 80, and I've just recently started helping her with her monthly bill paying etc. at her request. They had her a nervous wreck from all the 'mistakes' they were making each month. Things like charging her overdraft account when she would actually want to make a withdrawal from checking, or charging her fees on her account, when they weren't supposed to.

I have to go in there every month and have something straightened out. I want her to leave, but she is 'afraid' something will go wrong with her direct deposits etc. during a transition, so she stays.

I'm all about small local banks. We have a couple here that are so much easier to deal with than the major banks, better service, less fees, friendly and caring staff.

No big banks for me, unless there is no other alternative.

I worked for WF before it was WF.....they have changed names a few times since i moved to NJ....over 20 years ago...

I get all the free perks that a retired employee gets...free checking account...free checks...etc etc...

I just could not and would not change....I have so many automatic deposits...all my bills ...credit cards...are all connected to my account...

No, i am too old to make those changes...not to mention two times someone hacked my account...and they called me to make sure i made those purchases..(no it wasn't me)...they saved me a lot of money and aggravation by calling me before it was put through...
