@They CallMe MRWILKES Both the GFS & the EURO models are showing (as of this morning) 14-18 inches of snow through overnight Sunday in my area of E PA. The high temp is predicted to be 17 degrees Sunday & the overnight low 5 degrees, which will keep our precipitation snow & "fluffy" vs. heavy or wet snow.
If the system moves further north, we could have even higher numbers for snow.
Who knows what the next forecast will be on the weather roller coaster.

I'm just thankful we were able to install a generator a couple years ago. We don't need it often, but it turned out to be a major blessing for us and a couple of our neighbors when we were hit by Hurricane Helene! We live in a rural area with lots of trees, and if we get a lot of ice there will be trees/branches on the power lines.
Praying for safety for everyone in harm's way!
@vermint We got iced in for a week in 2024 here in N AL.
2 of the local weather stations have very different forecasts and it all changes hourly it seems. It started out as a mostly smow event, but now it's looking more like mostly ice, with one of the stations now saying we'll get ice then rain and then refreeze all that water. The low temp forecasts are what is concerning to me with one station saying single digits and another saying lows in the teens. I don't like either, but would much rather have the teens. Not just for me, but also for the plants in the greenhouse. I may bring a couple of hard to get/expensive plants in the house for a couple of days.
I wish we could get a generator, but it's terribly expensive and we would also have to either add propane or pay for all the neighbors to have free access to natural gas. It's available both up the hill from us or down the hill and around the corner, basically the same distance for both, but none of the neighbors are intersted in going in on running the line. It wouldn't be that expensive if they would go in on it and it should be good for property values.

Yes, the all snow line has shifted further north in the mid Atlantic and NY Metro area!
I'm waiting to see which of the meteorological teams among the NYC stations will actually start calling snowfall totals.
As of the noon broadcasts they are all being very, very coy since no one wants to be wrong.
They can't win. If they predict too much and it doesn't happen they get lambasted. But if they don't inform early enough it's "Why didn't they tell me!!"
Glad I only took one meterology class and not as a profession. I enjoy watching all of the competing forecasts.

It's a 50/50 shot whether the "weather guessers" get it right or not. I don't pay much attention to what they say. Can;t stop it from happening or not happening.

I hope everyone in the area starts getting their necessities now just in case you get that much snow. Best of luck to everyone affected!

We're supposed to leave on a cruise from Norfolk on Sat. The cruise port is 7 hours north of us so we're driving part way on Friday afternoon. The weather forcast for Sat in Norfolk is a high of 28 with snow starting in the afternoon. Packing winter and summer clothes

@skatting44. I always keep some Hormel Compleats shelf stable meals on hand. Some are surprisingly good for a quick and easy meal. You do need a microwave, however.

Today they're saying we only have a 20-30% chance of getting over 6 inches. Holding out hope. I'm also glad most of it is coming Sunday into Monday morning so the roads should be pretty well kept for Monday. And it seems like we've gotten snow every Saturday so at least I'll get one day of peace this weekend. Had to clean my car off Sat, Sun and Monday this last weekend. Over it.

We are temps of -10 to -5 on Friday and Saturday with -30 to -45 windchill.
I can put on more clothes and use a space heater. I just do not like ice and snow.
Midwest.
Our forecast changed to 60mph winds tonight through the weekend. brrrrrr
