Photos show empty supermarket shelves as millions across the US brace for Winter Storm Fern

It is being reported that supermarket shelves are being emptied because people are stocking up for the rough weather.

The weather was positively balmy today in southeastern PA, I think close to 50 degrees.  We spent time clearing out slush and snow from last week's weather event, and went to the store for essentials:  wine, cookies, cold cuts and other items to eat should we lose power.  Phones will be charged and my little AM/FM transistor radio ( yes, I still have one) is ready to go.  I just hope we keep our power and our heat; all of our utilities are above ground. Most stations in Philly are forecasting 14-17 inches....ugh.

Good luck everyone!

I had to laugh at the first item on your essentials list. "Wine".

@SharkE.  Hate to say I told. You so but...

It's just cloudy here with nothing going on.  Wish it was snowing.

no big deal yet. Just a skiff, but, by Sunday morning

maybe a different story.

Ind is expecting 12-18 inches think my sister said.

Cold as the Artic. Just hoping electricity holds and no freezing rain. In my subdivision all lines are underground so no Yahoo can get drunk and run into

a pole.

I've told the story before when we lived up in Southern Indiana a squirrel bit into an overhead electric line and the utility company found him with burnt fur.

Fried squirrel.

@Kachina624 We got couple of inches so far.

Snowing right now.  Don't have to worry about having to go out or any workman showing up.

I skipped the mailbox. Informed Delivery tells you what you got and not going out there for ads.

Good time to hang loose, dye hair and peaceful serene

time. Catch up on stuff.

@SharkE.  Guess what we've had so far... absolutely nothing.  Yesterday evening it sprinkled for awhile and may have done the same today.  Sun in and out of clouds.

I think we go skunked!  It is very cold outside.

It would be a mercy if you all got snow. Very dry area.

Hasn't rained here in months. At least these few inches of snow will be some sort of moisture for the shrubs and the few small trees I have.

I forgot I did have to go to the mailbox after all.

I get my Sunday paper on Sat. so, I put on boots and crept out to box. Walk on grass. When you get to the concrete driveway I just walked like a toddler to the

mailbox. LOL
