How ridiculous. As if you would know.

I'm talking about professional manicures,not a bottle of nail color from "The Buck Stops Here" Store. I think it is easy to tell the difference.

@Group 5 minus 1

Nope.  Maybe that's what your nails look like when you do them yourself, but some of us buy good polish and have good eye/hand coordination.  And take all of the necessary steps to get good results.  Geesh!

Antonella Nester did her own manicures, you could not tell they weren't done professionally, she had videos of herself doing them.  Its a pretty crappy way of judging somebodys wealth in my opinion. Anybody can learn to do a manicure.

@Allthingsgirly67 You are making a lot of assumptions and judgements about people you know nothing about or their circumstances. I'm sure you don't want to be judged for the mistakes you've made in your life and have them discussed by strangers online. A little kindness and acceptance can go a long way.

@reiki604 Judgements have to be made about people to protect us and others from scammers, grifters, criminals, and thieves.  Judgments that put some in jail, help us to avoid some people, etc.

I'm so tired of hearing you don't make jugments.  Really?  Of course you do.  All of us do.

I decided a long time ago that if I donated or gave money it was coming from my willing heart and not to second guess anyone's motives for taking it.  Most people know what it's like to have seasons of struggle.

@Jaspertimes   I agree, it should always come from a willing heart. However, the  motives of those who take it are just a important. To take money they don't need would be a lie and it would also be stealing from those with the real needs. Personally, I want my money to go to those who are genuinely in need.

Re: Wary of donating to charities.

Did you ever consider that, just possibly, the person needing the food may not be the owner of the vehicle? Maybe they needed a ride to the pickup location and assistance with the boxes containing the food? Or, maybe, public transportation was not an option. I mean, not EVERYTHING is a scam and not EVERYBODY is trying to take advantage of the goodness of others.

No manicures are not cheap as I know what the poster is referencing. Those are not manicures done at home those are manicures that easily cost 50 dollars or more a month depending where you live. Please stop being facetious.

Yes it did happen because I was the cashier. When the other ladies had a customer paying in food stamps we always tried to see what kind of car they were driving along with how they were dressed and what they are buying. Not an urban legend.

Uh, no they were not getting a ride. The news reporter was getting their reactions by going up to their cars. I think most of you are missing the meaning of the word sacrifice.

@chrystaltree     Yes it's the old welfare queen driving a Cadillac and buying steaks myth.  This has been around for years. And it has been debunked time and time again.   But now it seems they are driving Ferraris and wearing furs.

Local charities that provide food and clothing to those in need cannot verify if the person is truly in need.  They don't have the time or resources. They operate on the premise that if a person comes to them for food they are in need.

How does the OP know with such certainty that the people in the food line own the expensive cars? Did she ask them? Did the TV reporter ask if they owned the cars?  There are an awful lot of assumptions being made about people who received a Thanksgiving dinner.
