Update on my continuing EBATES saga!!!

[ Edited ]

Things just never seem to get better.  I am adding my original post below for anyone who missed it.  It was posted under Community Chat  and I received several comments.  Just knowing that I wasn't the only one who has had problems at least made me feel better.

"Everything was fine until last summer.  I have had my Cash Back account mysteriously drained of my money.  The first time, I jumped through all of their hoops to have things restored.  The situation was escalated to a CS rep with more authority.  She gave me an extra $10 for my trouble and assured me the problem was solved.

In September the same thing happened.  The problem was escalated again and fixed.  I was also assured that it shouldn't happen again and that QVC was the problem because of how that manage the Cash Back.  Strange things were fine for 18 months before it happened the first time.

Well, guess what?  It has happened again.  This time Kohl's as well as QVC purchases were impacted.  I have lost about $25.  This happened overnight.  When I checked at about 9:30 PM my money was there.  The next morning, it was gone.  I emailed last week and still have no response.  $7.45 was restored, but that is no where near what I have lost.  The efforts that you have to go through to have any transaction verified and restored are ridiculous if you have over a dozen transactions. I have checked the account every day to stay on top of things.  It was all fine until last week.  Now, I have 14 transactions that have vanished from the Cash Back page."

My rebate balance remains at slightly over $8 instead of well over $20.  I honestly feel as though they are trying to wear me out so that I will just go away!  My first couple of responses said that they would contact QVC and Kohl's to figure out what happened.  I was told I should hear back in 10 days.  Now, I should hear back in 45 days.  Today, I received an email that stated I must have gone through another site and that my Cash Back from Kohl's would not be honored.  I have no other rebate company installed on my computer.  I purchased and picked up my new food saver from Kohl's 3 hours after I ordered it!.  Their service of picking the item from the stores inventory and picking it up a few hours later has saved me so much time.  I use it frequently.

I am underwhelmed by Ebates lack of customer focus.  It seems like they really DO NOT care if  they address my concerns.  They have never ever said that it is their fault.  It is always my fault, QVC's or another company's fault.

I want other people to know how this company operates.  I always try to select companies that I do businesswith based on customer service and quality.  Then, I consider price.  I would rather spend a bit more and receive good service than be treated like this.

Re: Update on my continuing EBATES saga!!!

Just received another response for Ebates which should interest everyone who shops with Kohl's or another company that Ebates offers rebates for.

"When using Ebates it is important to only use the coupons/discounts listed on our site as the use of any other coupon/discount, even those provided by the store directly, can render your order ineligible to receive Cash Back."

I do not remember reading that anywhere!!!

@Tuppermore

Good to know!

I had considered switching but not now. Thanks for the warning.

Do you think your account has been hacked (perhaps even by an employee?)

So Sorry for you about this. I hope you get your money back!

@Tuppermore   This policy is also true with MrRebates that I go through..

You need to be sure to only click on to the coupons and deals listed under the businesses name. Do not use coupons  that are not on the list... otherwise you will not get the percent discount off of you order... I found this out like you are finding out... I did not get the deal and emailed CS.  They emailed me back that  I had used a coupon not on the site.  It was true.

So now I  am sure to only use their coupons listed.... unless of course that the OTHER COUPON is a better deal off than the one on Mr Rebates.

Wow what a hassle. Is it worth using Ebates?

I'm glad I never signed up. I think I will just continue using Mr. Rebates & Retailmenot cash back & coupons.

I have had a few problems receiving my rebates from HSN on Andrew Lessman products I buy but lately no problems. It's easy to get the rebate when I don't receive it.

Mr. Rebates has this listed under their FAQ's page

Question: Can I use coupons featured at Mr. Rebates when I shop at your partner stores?

Absolutely! Be sure that you only use coupons that are posted here at Mr. Rebates as coupons found elsewhere can negate the cash back with most merchants.

Please also make sure that discounts or free offers are present in the shopping cart of the participating merchant. Mr. Rebates is not responsible for coupons that are expired or incorrectly redeemed.

Even though it states the above on Mr. Rebates I have used a coupon not on their site & still received the rebate.

@Tuppermore have you thought of contacting Ebates on Twitter?  Seems like many people contact companies with issues via Facebook or Twitter, it could get you a much faster resolution.

I don't participate in most social media.  The Forums on QVC are where I post any thing that I feel is helpful to others or would be informative.  That's why I decided to post my issues with Ebates. But, thank you for the suggestion.

As a user of these sites since 2007, I can easily sympathize with you and I also feel qualified to ansewer from so much of my own experience. I have found Ebates to have one of the best CS depts of all of them, they have done good by me every time I have contacted them. and yes, it is always posted on all of these sites, if you use a deal or code or coupon not posted on their site, you run a high risk of your rebate not being validated. You have to try it and see what happens but if you dont get it, there is no recourse. I have a phone number for Ebates if you want it, let me know.
