@SeaMaiden That's strange because I got the same email! Maybe we're cousins.

Party at @Moonchilde 's!!
Happened to me about 5 years ago.
And I had moved so more money that a former employer owed me went to the state because my forwarding address notice had expired. The state notified me
I didn't know I left anything on the table when I left the company.

Check on whether or not you owe taxes or have they been taken out. . . It's wonderful foryou to get money like that, but just want to make sure you aren't in for SURPRISES from Uncle Sam down the road! You know how THAT uncle is! LOL!!! Congrats!

Congratulations, and what a nice surprise. Yes, you can wait to get the one that you really want. It will be worth it.

I love happy stories like this! Did you give them your bank account number/password so they can deposit the funds directly for you? 😁

That kind of happened to me when I retired. I'd already carefully calculated what my lump sum payout should be. I called Fidelity and spent the following 3-4 weeks arguing with them over the calculation. They were wrong. Dead wrong, and by a significant amount. When we got to within $500 I gave up and told them to send the check to Schwab (it was a defined benefit plan, so I hadn't contributed anything to it). 9 months later, I got a letter from Fidelity saying that they'd underpaid me (duh!) and that they'd be sending another check to Schwab for the remainder, plus interest.

I am so tired of fighting with financial institutions as they are so sure they do not make mistakes. More than once I have had to stand my ground to get something fixed. Currently fighting with a bank who changed the coding of one of my accounts resulting in a substantial loss of interest. I have heard so many excuses and every time I corrected them they would finally come up with another. After going up several levels I hit one who would not give me his supervisor and told me to contact "The office of the chair, complaints, CFPB (?) or the BBB! Great Customer service, also by the way how to get the address, no he wouldn't supply said I could figure it out.
We work too hard to save for retirement and then treated like an insignificant number to the institutions.

In your case, unfortunately, you are more intelligent and knowledgeable than the people you are stuck trying to convince. The banks speak with authority so you think they know what they are talking about. Imagine all the people who back down and accept their word.
Keep fighting.
