I am enrolled in UPS My Choice which allows me the opportunity to pay 3.50 additional and have UPS delivery to me directly. I would rather pay the money and have the package then wait for the transfer and USPS to deliver

@Cats3000You've been luckier with FedEx than I have while my regular mailwoman has been excellent. The worst thing FedEx did to me was to deliver my completed tax package to someone else - and then they did the same thing a few years later! I was pleased when a new CPA came on board and began sending the forms via USP.

But I do think overall what happens to any of our packages is determined more by the individual workers who happen to touch our things than it depends on which service does the delivering.

I was waiting on an item and was tracking it, finally last week it showed it was in my town, never got it, so I tracked it again, it went from my town, to another town in a different part of the state, then to a few other towns and then finally back to my town, and I got it today...oh my...

In my experience, often packages that appear ready for delivery on Monday rarely are, and especially after a Monday holiday. UPS doesnt move an inch over the week-ends so if a package gets to your town on Friday, it won't be delivered until Tuesday, as the have to transfer it to the PO on Monday.

UPS seems to have gotten extremely slow and careless. Let's face it, our ability to handle parcels in this country has been greatly impacted by internet shopping and they were poorly prepared for the workload.

@Kachina624.......so true....and with so many malls closing and stores leaving, it will be worse coming into the holiday season. We need to get our shopping done on the internet sooner in order to have the items delivered to us in plenty time.

Sure hope I will be getting my package today.

Just checked the "tracking schedule" on my package. It showed on 9/1....destination scan.....then on 9/4 at 12:52 it showed it was at my local PO......nothing after that. We'll see if the mailman will be delivering it today....if he feels like it.

Will let you know if it arrives today.

@Sooner- That's got to be an odd regional thing. I've had numerous packages delivered by FedEx. Never any kind of sticker on my door. Why would they need to do that, unless there is high theft in your area and they want you to know they left a package?

I just had a package delivered by FedEx on Tuesday. Just left on my porch. No sticker.

My local (rural) post office told me that they have "a minimum of 24 hours" before they have to deliver a package that has been transferred to them, under the rules of their agreement. So I know that, once they have a package, I won't get it until at least the next day.

We used to have an excellent carrier. Alas, he retired and now, if the package doesn't fit in the new carrier's personal vehicle, you have to pick it up yourself or they hold it for 15 days, then return it to the sender. No other choice! Very poor service, IMO. They are paid to deliver the package to the customer! (So much for "the mail always gets through".)

@Venezia.......yes, that is very poor service. Three pairs of pants in one plastic bag isn't too heavy for any mail carrier to deliver, so hopefully mine will get here today....or maybe tomorrow. Thank goodness I do not have to go to the PO to pick up packages.....they would never get picked up if I had to. I'm on a walker, and could not manage the walker, the door, etc. to get my package.

@Venezia There is NO theft where I live pretty much. In 40 years here I had ONE package taken and I'm convinced it was a UPS inside deal. It was a very expensive pen that should have been signed for, was in a tiny package gone from the porch in less than 30minutes. So I believe someone KNEW to pick it up by the insurance value.

But FedEx ALWAYS leaves those stickers on doors here. It's like a huge post-it note. How stupid is that?
