My mail carrier parks in front of our neighbor's mailbox and then walks to ours when there is a vehicle blocking it.

I don't know about other states......but here.......yeah they can skip your mail box if it's blocked......or you have a dog out.......or a host of other reasons............we have block mail boxes now and don't have the problems we used to..............................raven

I figured it'd be their policy. I'm pretty sure I'd walk to somebody's door with some meds however. How times have changed. I remember when the carriers walked box to box everyday and twice a day at Christmas. My carrier will get a lump of coal for next Christmas.

I have had people block my driveway before and the mail would not be delivered that day. He would not get out and bring it to the door. I guess I understand because where would they park if they can't even get to the mailbox?
I would ask the landscapers to NOT block your mailbox.

Wow - she won't give you your mail if you stand by your mailbox?
I had an issue with the postal person delivering mail refusing to pick up the Q returns I placed in the mailbox. The second time I had to go to the post office, I spoke to a supervisor who assured me he was supposed to do it, and said he would speak to him, but then he did it again.
So when I saw the truck going the other way, I walked up our long driveway and waited for him (it takes about 5 minutes for him to come back down the street). I think since it was Christmas, he thought I had a gift for him and at first was happy to take it. When he saw it was a box addressed to the Q, he looked very unhappy. I then told him I was not happy that he was refusing to pick up these packages and that I had talked to the post office about it. He didn't say anything.
I haven't had a return since so I don't know how he will react in the future.
If you are thinking that I should have given him a Christmas gift, - since he is constantly delivering my neighbor's mail to me and vice versa - and after these episodes, while I have given gifts in the past, I decided not to this year.
He also has the habit of leaving large boxes on the ground next to the mail box. This is on the street at quite a distance from my house - and very easy for anyone to pick up. Again, the post office has told me he is not allowed to do this. If he can't drive down to the house (as my previous postal person always did), and it won't fit in the box, he should leave me a slip to pick it up at the post office - but mail should not be left in the street.

It's your responsibility to keep your mailbox clear. Don't blame the post office--blame the landscapers!

Makes me afraid of what of mine he is putting in someone else's box. For this reason, I have gone paperless on many statements and bills I used to have delivered by mail. I don't need other people getting ahold of my financial statements.Wow - she won't give you your mail if you stand by your mailbox?

When I lived in Florida the mail box was attached to the house and the mail carrier was on foot. Move to Georgia and the mail carrier drives. Didn't know it was not ok to have someone block my mailbox until a note was left in my mailbox warning me that the mail would not be delivered if the box is blocked.
From then on I never let anyone block my mailbox.
