I ordered online from a merchant and UPS made one attempt to deliver, left me a notice, and said I needed to pick up my package at an access point. If I wanted them to redeliver I would be charged a $6 fee and have to go on their site and pay by credit card. So now you might pay a shipping fee to the merchant and have to pay another shipping fee to UPS if you aren't home when they try to deliver and need a redelivery. What a scam.

Was there a reason they couldn't leave it? UPS has a (free) service that will notify you when they are going to deliver and gives you the option to change delivery, etc. It's called UPS My Choice.
I live in a condo complex and it can be tricky to locate my front door, gps quite often leaves people in the middle of the complex, nowhere near my building. I got a call at work the other day from an independent delivery service used by Amazon. The woman was attempting to deliver my order and couldn't find my front door. She stayed on the phone while I "walked" her through my complex and right to my door. She/Amazon went above and beyond for me!

@Snoopp I understand your frustration....the only time I have an issue with UPS/USPS is when a package has to be signed for...I have to travel almost 45 minutes to pick up a package...I signed up for MyChoice and there are times when I can now have them deliver to a location closer to my home if the package has to be signed for. Right now UPS is offering 3 months of free premium which includes free package upgrades and change of deliveries if you were in an area affected by Florence!

@Snoopp@Have you had delivery problems..such as items stolen. That would be a possible reason they want you home.I can see why they donāt keep coming back as that could become costly and raise delivery prices for everyone. My packages are all just dropped off and I donāt need to be home.

They don't do the sign the notice thing anymore? I got surprised by a delivery I didn't know I had to sign for several months ago and the notice said I could sign it and leave it on the door to give them permission to leave it the next day.
They must really be overwhelmed these days to say once and done and then charge their own delivery fee.

I have no idea why they required a signature. Nothing has been stolen either. I was actually home at the time but couldn't get to the door as I was in an appointment.
The same day, the Fed Ex guy actually threw my packages on the stoop (I caught him when I opened the door a few seconds before the throw) and he proceeded to slip and fall on the steps, he was in such a hurry.

I don't see how they can be so overwhelmed when all they're doing here is paying a visit to my post office. It's only rarely now do I actually get a delivery directly from them...maybe they're just rusty at home deliveries.. ![]()

I have noticed all UPS packages I'm to receive say a signature is required. That must not be the case because they leave all my packages by my front door.

I never have to sign for UPS packages. They just mark it delivered on their electronic device. USPS does the same.
Sometimes I have to sign for FedEx deliveries.

I just had a very annoying QVC delivery problem with UPS this past Monday. We had some workmen at our house, and unbeknownst to us they left a big equipment trailer blocking our driveway. I knew I had a package coming from QVC that day, but didn't know the driveway would be impassable. Instead of getting a notice to pick up the package at a UPS drop site, the driver left the box BY THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY! Anybody could have pulled over, put the box in their car, and driven away and we would have been none the wiser. When I checked the UPS tracking, the driver claimed to have left the box with a neighbor. NOT! I would have been a lot happier to have to drive somewhere to pick up the package, or if they had tried to deliver another day, at least our package would have been secure! I guess I can be grateful that our rural community is relatively honest.
