With the EMS and Nursing Home residents just getting theirs this week it will be awhile for alot of us. Clinics don't have any information.
The Ojibwe Resevation clinic is calling Elders to come in. This is in N. Wisconsin. I am not a high risk to disease and over 65 a few years so figure I will be waiting. I only go out to Grocery Shop so glad I dont have to be around people very often.

There are stories out there of people who were not scheduled for the vaccine shot who received them because they were at the right place at the right time.
The person scheduled for the shot did not show up.
I can't help but to wonder how many people will return for the 2nd injection

@gidgetgh I live in Cherokee county. I don't know how anyone got an appointment. The hotline # stays continuously busy or is just dead silence when you call. The online sign up never came to fruition. And the health Department is no help. Until the vaccine becomes more widely available it is just sheer luck if you got an appointment. This was a terrible idea to make the vaccine available only through the individual health departments and to everyone over 65. Some of the larger counties are having mass drive through vaccinations. You register online fill out the consent form, show up get the shot wait for the required time and then leave.

@50Mickey I kept calling and calling, over and over, last Friday morning- finally I was told there were 35 callers ahead of me so I kept holding and holding to no sound & bam a young lady picked up- she got us both registered for the 18th at noon. She told me the number had crashed that morning they were so over whelmed.
Since we're both in Cherokee County, Howdy neighbor.

While I realize not everyone has insurance, it seems that - at least here - it is being much more efficiently handled by Kaiser than by the County.
The interesting thing is that the County is publicizing everywhere - the vaccine is here for those 75+ - just call. Then - um no - dont call - go online and we'll call you.
I called Kaiser yesterday morning and their initial response was - we will contact you when we can schedule you. Later in the day, they did just that for DH (again, I'm not eligible yet.)
So the County creates a panic - I'm seeing all kinds of upset being posted locally about not being able to get scheduled and fear they will run out - and Kaiser just handles it.

@Isobel Archer we're Kaiser patients too and haven't heard squat- they finally updated their information line. My husband is a cancer survivor and I'm almost over 72 so we won't be considered soon but our county made it possible for us, according to state guidelines.

The states may be parceling it out differently. Here, apparently it's not just through the County. I've also heard hospitals are administering it to their staff and patients.
As noted in posts above - some states are giving it to 65+ - here we are not.

I just heard from a friend that she and another woman just showed up at a local hospital yesterday - no appointment - and got in line and got the shot Now they were 75+, but apparently there were folks who said they were 65+ there also getting shots (and they were not in the first responder/essential worker category).
So apparently, it's a free for all. I will wait my turn.

Hmmmm @Isobel Archer seems so disorganized or something.
I know from seeing (this is probably trivial) but our local BJ's has senior hours- but oh no everybody comes and no one checks ages, seems a waste of time to me.
Will be so happy when there's more organization and everyone can get their shots- with an appointment seems no one could just walk up and be given the vaccine.
