The casinos opened today where I live.  People were waiting in line to get in.  They just showed clips I think I saw two people with masks.  Casinos made sure social distancing was inforced.  Looked like plexi glass around gambling tables.  Hand sanitizing done at tables etc... people looked happy.  Employees may have been wearing masks I could not tell. I think they said 50% caapacity.

@sunshine 919  Casinos are fun for some people.  I say enjoy yourself.  I have not been to a Casino in  6 years maybe longer.  It's time I make a trip!

We live in Reno/ Sparks NV,  I’m trying to understand how opening the Casinos is going to work. We drove by one today and the parking lot was packed. How can they do the six foot rule?

Kudos to  those who still have disposable income for gambling.

There are three casinos where I live.

They are open for about 20 hours a day, and a patron MUST be wearing a mask, use hand sanitizer upon entering, and have their temperature taken.

Every other slot machine is turned off, and there is plexiglass at the gaming tables.

An added bonus is, smoking is no longer allowed inside the casino.

I was super careful and quarantined for a long time.  But we've moved to a point where things need to open.  So far the states that have opened have NOT seen a spike in deaths/hospitalizations so I say it's time to let people go where they want.  If you're afraid, stay home.

Somehow the media is fine with thousands of maskless rioters and looters not maintaining social distancing. Yet churches and places of business can't open. This is starting to be more about control than health.

I could not agree more.

I have been saying this for a while, but it falls on deaf ears.

Re: Casinos opening

[ Edited ]

We went today they've been open for a few weeks.  We were curious and picked today because we went early 8:30am and left at 12.  Mostly weekdays it's seniors anyway.

We were really surprised how clean and staff cleaning all over.

You walked in and if you don't have one they gave you a mask (mandatory) then you walk thru a sensor machine which takes your temperature.  If you didn't meet this requirement you were not allowed in.  They have these checkpoints at every entrance and various places thru casino.  We saw a few turned away.

We proceeded to casino level.   hand sanitizer dispensers everywhere & many machines turned off.  For instance, if block of 6 machines-- only end machines on.  No one could sit side by side, per se.

Interestingly, everyone we encountered was pleasant. The people in there were just busy enjoying themselves and seemed everyone followed the rules.

I was really impressed with was the cleaning staff.  They were constantly cleaning and very attentive.  I asked the attendant to wipe the slot machine I was going to play (I brought my own wipes just in case).  Honestly, it was the cleanest I've ever seen the slot areas!!!

Drinks were limited service.  No glasses just paper cups.

I didn't see many smokers so can't say if this was a issue.

We had a nice lunch in the restaurant, again, very clean (as always), limited menu and food was good.  They gave you hand wipes and paper bag to place your mask in while you ate.

All in all, I was concerned it would be the same as always, crowds, people not following the guidelines but was pleasantly surprised we had a nice time.

Of course, not sure what nights & weekends would be OR the crowds of Vegas.  Only time will tell as they start to "relax the rules" what will happen.

I took all the same precautions as when I go shopping and felt comfortable -- hopefully, we will go again next month and they report no issues (although owned by tribe not sure they report).

🙂🤞🏻

We have several casinos here and Live Casino is doing temperature checks.  Theyhave a system that does it as you walk in and if you have a temp they take it again after 5 minutes with a different thermometer and then one more time 5 minutes later.  If you fail all 3 you can't go in.

It's getting hot here, so I can imagine it will be difficult to get a normal temperature of someone walking into the casino from the outside heat.
