I just heard on my local news that Toys R Us may be filing for Bankruptcy before the holidays; anyone else have this reported? It was stated the online shopping battle is the reason.

That's sad-so many good hunting memories and getting those favorite coveted toys for my kids; that great excitement when you got one and then being the Best mom ever when you saw their delighted face and thank yous!

That's a shame. As a grandma I gravitate to Amazon to buy toys and books for my two as it is so convenient.

Yes I think as a grandma Amazon and Really Walmart and Target are the way to go, and all the other interesting sites for just about everything!

I always liked the free Christmas layaway for toys...

That's sad if true. Brick and mortar retail chains are going the way of the old fashioned Main Streets when malls became the places to shop. I'm a grandmother whose children and grandchildren live in other states. Amazon and other websites have been the way to go. It's so much easier than taking the car through the snow to the mall, wrapping the presents, going to the Post Office, waiting on line, and then sending out those gifts.

Eh. Over the past 5-10 years we've noticed a HUGE change in Toys R Us and all for the worse. The online inventory system was ALWAYS wrong (our stores NEVER had the items in stock though it said they did nor did the stores an hour plus away have what they said they did). NO ONE would answer the phone. 1 person to ring up huge lines on Saturdays (the holidays brought and extra person). Staff not knowing ANYTHING about their merchandise, where anything was, nor would the offer any help; they were more concerned about their phone/text messages than anything else. Last, without fail, our sale would be rung up incorrectly as would the persons ahead of us.
Going under does not surprise me in the least. Their horrible customer service made us do two things:
1) shop online
2) shop elsewhere.

I did read that. They are reviewing all of their options. Probably will close some of their under performing stores.

When my kids were little, it was the place I always went. I haven't been there in years since I don't have grandchildren. I'm 62 and I remember going shopping downtown with my Mom as a little girl, then the Malls came and now it's on line shopping. We've seen a lot ladies! We keeping going with the changes though!

Retired from ToysRUs after 10 years at headquarters in NJ. Sad to hear this. The last 35 years of working, I was employed by 3 different companies. They all went out of business if TRU follows suit.
