Her mother Candy was interviewed by a paparazzi when leaving a restaurant after this story broke and he asked her why she didn't help her financially. Candy said she did help her financially, paying her rent and paying for the childrens schooling.

I get California is expensive to live in, I really do. Having said that I have seen where she lives (in all the different houses), how she decorates, what she drives, the clothing she wears and the clothing she dresses her children in and the extravagant parties she throws for her children. I have seen the HUGE warehouse that she stores all her stuff in and it is enormous. At least 2,000 sq ft if not double that amount. That kind of storage can't be cheap and it is loaded with a ton of stuff. 

It is hard to feel sorry for someone who lives so extravagantly yet cries poor. All of her houses were very nice and the furniture, rugs and drapery were top of the line. There is no way in heck she spent less than $500k when you combine her furniture, drapery, rugs, duvets, etc...  You cannot tell me she couldn't find a house with as much room as she needs for half the price and decorate it in a beautiful way without spending 1/4 of that.  You just can't, because I know there are houses out there and I know she could decorate much cheaper.  It may not be what she is used to or what she grew up with but that kind of extravagant spending has to stop when money isn't coming in.

I understand she grew up wealthy with the best of everything and at one time made a boat load of money herself. She no longer sells her jewelry on HSN (which I liked and even bought her TSV agate necklace that you could adjust into 5 different looks) and she nor her husband have had any substantial acting roles in a while. She still lives as though she is making that kind of money and obviously spending like it to. Even if she downsized, she would still live better than 80% of Americans. 

Sorry, but I don't feel sorry for someone like that. Not one bit. I think she looks like a foolish (for many reasons) little girl who refuses to face reality. Time to grow up.

If they have that much net worth than they should sell something and pay what they owe.  That is what a person with ethics would do. I bet they have two or more expensive cars....sell one or both and buy a less expensive car.  Pay American Express instead of going bankrupt.

If what you say is true, and their net worth is 1.5 million I can see why they are broke.  A simple engineer would have more than that in retirement here.  The average home in LA area, San Diego and the Bay Area is about 700,000.  There are 2b 1ba, 900 sq ft homes in areas for BH, the and in Santa Clara Valley that sell for 3 million.

If they have 1,5 million now, the money went somewhere, because she would have made three times that in residuals and licensing for her 1st tv series. Maybe they are not savers or planners, or had too many law suits

How how can she get into this kind of debt unless she is living way beyond her means?  She needs to get real. I am sure with all her books and jewelry line on HSN, she still lives a better life money wise that most Americans....she just needs to wake up and live in the real world.   She did not get a huge inheritance, but $800,000 is not chump change.  If I inherited $800,000 I would be just fine for life!   Her Mother helps her out now already, but will not pay for Tori's extravagant spending.

800,000 is not enough for a 40 year old to live on till death--especially with her lifestyle.  She's been known to spend FAR beyond her means.  She grew up having a lot though she did work.  Her line is gone from HSN, and she doens't have any revenue coming in as her shows were canceled.  It's kind of sad.  Her mother is worth so many millions, but I think they have an acrimonious relationship.

She's truly a hot mess.  I feel kind of sorry for her in a weird way.  She seems to have a good work ethic, but she just can't stop her spending.  I haven't even read this article though.
