I seen the ball drop in the 50's. Long time ago. It was fun back then maybe a drunk trying to give you a New Year kiss. It was crowded  but not bad. Now a days if I was young I would never go. You get herded like cattle in a pen. Bathroom wear adult something or go in a cup. No thank you. Worry about a pickpocket think about what if maybe something bad could happen. Would take the joy out of the night.  I really would hate to be the clean up people the next day with all the trash and other stinky stuff!!

Next day?

The cleaning crew starts cleaning up right after the ball drops.

I watch the ball drop on abc. I wish they would show the crowd etc. more after the ball drops. ...But no... soon as the ball drops, it goes right to the news.

There are no bathrooms.

You have to be patrons of the bars/etc.  (assuming maybe you have to have reservations) to use the restrooms.

People start lining up around 1::00pm.

I knew what the question would be before I even opened the post.  LOL  It has always puzzled me my entire life as to why people crowd in there for this.  Well, why people crowd into ANY area for ANYTHING.

@MomCat  I'm with you on that one. Just like people crammed into these tiny restaurants because they're supposed to be all that. Who cares if you can't enjoy your meal without someone on top of you?  Times Square on New Year's Eve?  Heck no!!

Yesterday local radio hosts said that it costs $799 per ticket to dine at Bubba Gump Shrimp tonight there in Times Square.  DH said it's ridiculous, but I think it would be better than standing out in the cold.  😊🎉 If I ever go, that's the way I would want to do it--inside while looking out the window.
