Does Gregory book the guests? I thought there was staff for that.
I liked Russert a lot. I think NBC as a network would be more balanced if he was still there.

When I think of Tim Russert,I think of a verse in 2Timothy, that says basically, "I have fought the fight, kept the faith stayed the course. and they said, "Well done good and faithful servant"
Shoekitty - I think people loved him because Tim lover everyone he met!
He was kind, polite, thoughtful, curious. He treated everyone from Presidents to interns with the same degree of respect.
He never forgot where he came from...never stopped caring about South Buffalo, the Sisters of Mercy, Canisius High School, the Buffalo Bills and his family, especially his beloved dad.

The host is also executive producer and chief editor of MTP - so he has final say on the guests and topics.

Funny...I read about a senior producer and and executive producer for MTP and neither name was David Gregory.
About "chief editor"...I've found "managing editor of NBC political news" (not his name), but no "chief editor of MTP."
Could you be wrong about either...or both?

Sorry - it was Russert who had multiple roles.

So the guests are not booked by Gregory?
The ones who show up are the ones he has to work with? He doesn't have final say?
Maybe that's the problem.
ETA: Ooops...Betsy Martin was sr. exec. producer and exec. producer before moving up last year.
So...no, if Russert had "multiple roles," those were not two of them.

I didn't say that either...he has a lot of leeway on the show.
IMO he is a poor interviewer and lacks follow up.
They have shortened segments to keep the show moving...and also because his follow up and ability to talk in-depth is limited.
