On the cover of O Magazine, Oprah is always photo shopped made to look half her real size. I find that disingenuous.

I guess some people will never have enough money or fame. Maybe think about the people who are hungary before you have that extra helping of whatever. We still don't believe it's calories in and not enough burned that make us fat, not bread. Everything in moderation and move. I don't need to have Oprah tell me what she eats or doesn't eat for weight loss. Bottom line people, it's all about the money,HERs.

I am on the fence about rejoining WW and the news she made 12million in one day, that sure didn't help..
Personally I don't care for Oprah, how much more money can she have & I'm glad she's losing weight but I am just flat out torn on which direction to go.

I think every January they see an uptick in membership.
Yes, this is just what I was going to say as well. I think her involvement and commercials and start up time was strategically planned to coincide with the new year's resolutions that kick in this month.

The woman is obese. To lose 26 pounds is great however... the majority of WW members lose this amount and then begin to gain and lose the same amount until they either quite or figure out the problem. There are many articles/research on this. In the end, she'll carry far more weight (pardon the pun) when she's closer to/hits goal because that will show everyone how great the program really is.
Right now, she looks no different then when she started. Just saying.
I really don't like when people do this to others who are trying to achieve a goal. I don't care who she is or how much money she has or has invested in this company, the fact that she obviously has battled a weight issue her entire life, then has success, no matter how small, is a big deal.
I doubt one would attack an alcoholic who was celebrating 26 days sober. One would be supportive and positive as they struggle and fight their demons.
For some reason, people with weight issues aren't given the same kindness, consideration, support, or credit as drug addicts, or alcoholics when they strive to overcome. What's up with that?

People who have struggled with weight long-term are looking for serious help. WW is a pretty good plan for weight loss in and of it's self.
Unfortunately, it is a life long commitment, a 'live-it, not a die-it' if you will. It is not quick and glamorous, but hard work.
O's flitting in and making quick loss claims promotes high expectations in members who need the program and who are facing long term challenges.
I hope it works for her and she sticks with it rather than taking the money and running.

Excellent post!
I would give 5 hearts if I could.
It is a life long commitment.
I committed to WW for 8 months lost quite a bit of weight I got careless next thing you know it was back and then some.
Only Oprah can determine whether she has short term or long term success or just another "business venture."

I've lost more than 200 pounds on WW and have another 100 or so to go, so my comment comes from a place that very few can imagine.
One of the things that ticks me off (as well as other WW members) is the fact that she is out there proclaiming "oh I can eat bread every day. This is NOT a diet" when, in reality, VERY FEW can have bread daily due to the stict limit on daily points. The vast majority only get 30 per day. Oprah gets far more. There is no way she weighs less than I.. and at 248, I get 38 points a day. Only 8 points but it's actually a LARGE amount when you have to count mustard, pickle relish, some vinegars and many other things the majority of people take for granted when they eat.
I'll say it again: talk to me, Oprah, when the New Year Resolution members stop coming to meetings, when members who are having issues due to the caloric restrictions say "forget this" and she has lost more than 25 pounds. That last part is crucial because when you have at least 100 to lose (and I'm betting she does), it's a WHOLE different pack of pies, let me tell ya.
Oh and the timing is just too, too convienent for the purchase of stocks and for her "bread" announcement. I mean, come on.
Anyway, JMHO.

I'm sure she does think of hungry people. I'm not sure how that would help her lose weight. I've had great success on WW until she came aboard. The website was messed up for a month and they changed the points to make sure we eat better. I was eating well on the system before this new one. I've had to adjust my thinking again, which is OK. I haven't gained any weight on this new point system. I'm not one for changes, but I see why they did it, not for Oprah but for their members. Why did it take her so long to try WW? Maybe we need to see the true Oprah on her magazine covers. She says she empowers women, so why does she lie on her covers?

hahaha I was just thinking "it's surely not the bread I eat" ![]()
