I saw the thread and I figured it get deleted, as it should have with the new no politics and controversy rule. The only way for it have not ended in argument was if you silenced anyone who disagrees with you. And if that's what you want, take it to your blog or facbook page.

And very much on whether or not the Report button gets clicked. I can think of at least one person who got agitated the other day when I used the number of republican candidates for president as an example of something that was too much of something. I made no comment on whether it was good or bad, there are just a lot. Not my fault there are so few people running on the other side. You never know what's going to be a hot button for someone. And that's my point about house rules and QVC's burden as a host. It's hard to guess what is going to make someone uncomfortable and without the Ignore option, they are choosing to err on the side of caution and remove anything that might be controversial. It may calm down after a while, but it may not. Their house, their rules.
I would say that you could find someone who would be uncomfortable with just about any topic or statement ever made.
Exactly. And the Mods have to guess what's the worst on the list in terms of how many people will get angry and how angry they're going to get. It's a hard job and this response we're seeing has happened on every moderated forum I've ever been on. People complain about what's being said, the forums get over-moderated, people complain about what can NOT be said, moderation gets adjusted over time, things come to a balance, then it all starts up again. Right now it's a period of adjustment for everyone, posters and Mods. And it's more obvious now because the Mods aren't just disappearing things, they're leaving a trace behind and saying why something was moderated. That sudden visibility makes a difference in the reaction, too.

The poor victim whining gets old especially when there is deliberate intent to abuse the rules.
The posting of the value of someone's life surely had intent and the reaction that followed.

Now that some subjects are banned completely, we just have to decide whether or not we want to stay. I think QVC is pretty much "guiding us" away from all that and they have decided to keep it light and airy. It is very hard to do that in light of world conditions for me. I will stay to keep in touch....but am finding that I want to be here a lot less. I guess, you might say, I don't feel very involved anymore. Not knocking QVC. Not knocking the moderators. If they just want us here to give reviews or inquire things of each other and be more lighthearted....they are accomplishing that. I just, on the whole, need more than this. I do not post anywhere else but I will not stay and complain about "what is" when I can solve my own problem by posting somewhere else, too.

I have found you can discuss controversial topics here, as long as they are not politics or religion, and the discussion stays civil. No disparaging or belittling posters.

Well that's too bad, somebody else brought up the value of a human beings life. Instead of a adult conversation, there were inferences and barbs that were completely UNNCESSARY. I'm glad the moderators removed the offensive posts before moving the thread.

Guess my point was that you can over "sanitize" the boards. When the moderation depends on the community alerting the moderators of problems, you have only those who feel the need to hit the button running the board not the moderators.

I didn't see the thread, but I have a fairly good idea how it may have become controversial.
