Hardly.

Because he's an idiot. There is NO reason to use a loaded gun EVER in a training exercise UNLESS you are on the range and are firing the weapon.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out because it happened in CA and their laws are as strict as MD.
There are lots of idiots out there.
There certainly are. And more and more people aren't accepting the "It Was An Unfortunate Accident" response anymore.
ENOUGH

Yeah, many that I know and shoot with are gung-ho pro gun ownership and NONE of them think arming teachers is a good idea. I don't know anyone that does among the gun crowd, including myself.
Not only is it a bad idea, it totally would destroy the student/teacher/classroom dynamic for a positive learning environment. Schools were not meant to be armed fortresses, and teachers are not supposed to be wardens.

How on earth is an armed teacher with other things as their main fccus (like teaching, like interacting with their students) supposed to be effective against an armed assailant with ONE THING on his mind?
It just defies all common sense,

Exactly. Not to mention where one would keep the gun that would assure its secure spot. Plus some teachers travel from room to room and don't have their own station each day. Conceal carry is not even an option. There are a myriad of books, papers, attendance records and keys that must be dealt with each day, plus a classroom full of students whose attention one must keep. There are also various activities and movements that take place during group learning, interactions, and project research. As I've said, the dynamics of the classroom definitely do not allow for armed instructors. And then there's the little issue of a pistol against an AR-15. I find the whole suggestion insanely impractical and morally repugnant.

Are you having thyroid surgery? Or surgery? If so when?

Mind if I borrow your "squirrel talk" phrase sometime, @sidsmom? I've never heard it before but I think I love it.

Agree 100%. Unfortunately, teachers are being made to do more and more and MORE things because society has failed our children. That was never the purpose, IMHO, of a teacher. Now there are those asking our teachers to arm themselves; because, once again, society has failed. It's a mess.

The good news is that I saw a specialist who said it wasn't Hashimoto's, he knew Hashimoto's and said I am fine. The nodules DID come from Lupus as I had guessed and were not threat.
The bad news is... we had been under a lot of stress at the end of last year, a family death, getting the flu and being in the hospital, being in an accident. Stress brings on nasty lupus attacks. I had no idea that Lupus can attack your mouth and teeth. When I noticed something was going on, I got to good doctors and dentists and I have some real problems. It hit that fast and there will be perhaps more than one oral surgery. I am admittedly nervous about it.
Here is a brief explanation of what happens:
