Re: Tanya Tucker's new song about her love for Glen Campbell.

From TMZ today:

Tanya Tucker's tribute to Glen Campbell has struck the wrong chord with his widow Kim Campbell, who thinks Tucker's serving a "distorted fairy tale" of their short-lived romance to the masses ... but Tucker says it's purely for charity.

Tanya, who dated Glen in the '80s before he married Kim, released the song "Forever Loving You" about Glen, on August 9, a day after he died of Alzheimer's. She's been on a media blitz promoting the track ever since.

Kim's people say Tanya is "callous and disrespectful," exploiting Glen's name. They say it pains Kim to see Glen and Tanya's faces all over tabloids, with headlines like "He Was The Love of My Life."

Kim's camp says, in reality, Tanya had nothing to do with Glen for 35 years, and Kim worked tirelessly to help him battle Alzheimer's.

Tanya's "Today" performance is what sent Kim through the roof, when the hosts expressed their sympathy to Tucker and not the grieving widow and 3 kids Glen left behind.

Tanya's camp says she's just using the moment to raise awareness for Alzheimer's.

Re: Tanya Tucker's new song about her love for Glen Campbell.

Well whatever is " in her heart " for Glen it still seems very self serving of TT

We'll never know how he felt but apparently he didnt make it a point to tell anyone who would listen she was love of his life

And he went on to have many wives -and she was not one of them

So from my prespective it seems a little one sided now for her to be doing this

he's been sick a for long time -

Noone would be talking about her had she not put herslef in the spotlight the minute he died

Out of respect for his wife who was by his side through his whole illness she should have just kept her mouth shut.  If she really had love for him than maybe post a memory on twitter with a link to an altzeimers charity...or make a quiet donation.  Definite showboating by someone who was not there changing diapers or feeding the man when he was at his worst.

Re: Tanya Tucker's new song about her love for Glen Campbell.

Tuco, said with all due respect his wife did not change his diapers either. She put him on the road with their children to promote a new album(cd) knowing he could not remember the words to songs...he had cue cards. She then put him in a nursing home not long after saying he became hard to deal with. She moved him to another state and would not let his children from his other marriages visit him. In fact moved him without letting them know where he was.

Once those children found him she refused to let them visit. They had to take her to court to get their right to visit. They won visitation but she put limitations on them. They could only come at certain hours and no pictures. Strange not long after they won those rights...she moved him back home.

I would say...her hands are not clean either.

Re: Tanya Tucker's new song about her love for Glen Campbell.

From the New York Post: http://nypost.com/2015/05/01/glen-campbells-blues/

With his “aw shucks, ma’am” charm and velvety voice, Glen Campbell was a legendary country and pop-music singer, guitarist and Hollywood hot guy. But now, friends and relatives tell me, he languishes in a “mediocre” facility outside Nashville, Tenn., for patients afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease.

He can spend only minimal time with his oldest children, say sources, who claim he is frequently alone except for the company of caregivers and TV crews recording his mental decline.

He wants to go home, they say, and doesn’t understand that the facility is his residence, probably for the rest of his life.

“Everything that is done in this facility could be done at home around loved ones,” a relative tells me. “It just breaks my heart.”

“Your time on this Earth is very limited,” adds Travis Campbell, 49, Glen Campbell’s son from his second marriage. “He has provided for the whole family. We want to provide for him.’’

I’ve spoken to a half-dozen family members and close friends of Glen Campbell. They say his fourth wife of more than 32 years, Kimberly Woolen Campbell, who lives in a big house near her husband’s facility, greatly restricts the amount of time her man may spend with family and pals.

I reached Patricia Sullivan Webb, former wife of Campbell’s longtime songwriter, Jimmy Webb. She says: “I love the Campbell family and am deeply saddened. Glen’s older kids have been banned and then given ridiculously short and infrequent visits with their father.

“Glen loves all eight of his kids, not just the three children he has with Kim.’’

The Campbell family feud reached a climax in January, when Travis Campbell and Glen Campbell’s daughter from his first marriage, Debby Campbell-Cloyd — who at age 58 is two years older than her 56-year-old stepmom — filed a petition seeking to wrest control from Kim Campbell of their dad’s medical and financial decisions.

In the petition, the half-siblings accused Kim Campbell of visiting their father rarely and keeping him “secluded from the family,” whose older members were “prohibited from participating in his care and/or treatment,’’ the Associated Press reported. They said Kim Campbell did not provide him with basic toiletries and clothing.

“He didn’t even have a toothbrush!” a close friend says.

A judge ordered that the case go into mediation. Then, on April 21, a day before Glen Campbell’s 79th birthday, sources say, his two children reached a tentative agreement with their stepmother. They’d be allowed to see their dad just twice a month, after giving at least seven days’ notice to his wife before visiting. They spent two hours with him on his birthday.

Sources say they’ll be barred from bringing cellphones and cameras into Glen Campbell’s facility. They also won’t be able to bring him fan mail or food, such as the salmon he craves from a sushi restaurant across the street — though the food prohibition might be lifted if his doctor signs off on it. He now has reading glasses and a toothbrush, but not hearing aids.

Glen Campbell’s older children believe they have no choice but to drop their lawsuit and settle so they can see their dad. It might take up to a year for the case to be resolved at trial, and they fear their dad, who remains physically robust but suffers from dementia, might not live that long.

Kim Campbell did not return my call. Her daughter by Glen Campbell, Ashley Campbell, 28, hung up the phone on me.

Responding to his eldest daughter’s criticism about putting Glen Campbell into a home in April 2014, Kim Campbell told the AP: “It is crushingly sad to see him afflicted with Alzheimer’s, but indulging those feelings does not help him. I am his wife, and no one wants him home more than me, but I must do what is in his best interest.” She told TV’s “Inside Edition” in September that she sees her husband every day.

Glen Campbell was born in Arkansas, became a session musician in Los Angeles and played with the Beach Boys in the 1960s. Boyishly handsome and 6 feet tall, he recorded hits including “Gentle on My Mind,” “By the Time I Get to Phoenix” and “Rhinestone Cowboy,” won multiple Grammys and acted in the 1969 movie “True Grit,” opposite John Wayne. He hosted “The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour” on CBS from 1969 to 1972. In 2005, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

He’s spoken openly about his past struggles with alcohol and cocaine abuse.

His eldest daughter, a flight attendant and singer, toured with him for 24 years.

She’s said Kim Campbell fired her from his band after announcing publicly that her husband suffered from Alzheimer’s in 2011, replacing her and other band members with her own kids. Kim Campbell also arranged for a documentary to be made of his 2011-’12 farewell concert tour, “Glen Campbell . . . I’ll Be Me,’’ that’s set for a June TV premiere on CNN.

I hope Glen Campbell’s final years are spent surrounded by people who love him.

He deserves it.

Re: Tanya Tucker's new song about her love for Glen Campbell.

More info:

Glen Campbell‘s oldest children have scored a legal victory in their ongoing battle to win visitation rights with their ailing father. Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam has signed a bill into law that will allow them to visit the country legend despite resistance from his wife.

As Rolling Stone reports, Debby Campbell-Cloyd and Travis Campbell have been battling with their stepmother, Kim Campbell, for visitation rights for more than a year. On May 16, Governor Haslam signed the Campbell / Falk Act into law. The legislation allows family members and close friends of a person with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia or other disabilities to visit their loved in person, or maintain contact with them by phone, email or mail, despite the stated wishes of a legally appointed conservator. The new law states that if the person can no longer communicate, like Campbell, then their prior relationship with the visitor presumes consent.

The legislation takes precedence over previous Tennessee law, in which a conservator was allowed to determine sole visitation rights. The Campbell / Falk Act will require court intervention to put those restrictions in place.

Glen Campbell Through the Years

The law is named for Campbell and Columbo star Peter Falk, whose daughter has claimed that her stepmother tried to prevent her from visiting her father and did not inform her about his death or funeral. Family members of both Campbell and Falk, as well as Campbell’s former love, Tanya Tucker, attended the signing of the legislation.

“We are very pleased that this new law has been enacted,” Senator Rusty Crowe says (quote via KnoxBlogs). “It is heartbreaking to hear [about] sons and daughters who cannot spend quality time with their parent after they are incapacitated and their health is in decline. We believe this new law strikes the right balance so that it protects the rights of some of our most vulnerable citizens, while at the same time giving the conservator a fair process to follow in protecting the ward.”

Campbell’s children have previously claimed that Kim Campbell restricted some of Campbell’s eight children from visiting him. The new legislation means they can see their father at will, but Kim can still petition the court for restrictions if she can demonstrate just cause.

“No family member has ever been denied a visit to my dad,” Campbell’s younger daughter, Ashley, told Rolling Stone in 2015. “Sometimes we have restrictions as far as for his privacy and safety, like restricting photos taken or items brought in, but no family member has ever been denied.”

“We have some family members who don’t understand the disease and what he’s going through and like to make a fuss,” she added. “What they don’t know is what they’re doing is a disservice to their dad and to people with Alzheimer’s everywhere and their families dealing with it.”

RIP Glen Campbell

Unless you have ever cared for a loved one with this disease it is not always possible to keep them home

There are medical and safety issues amomg other things to deal with so I won't  fault for her that and since she was his wife for 32 years it was her decision to make

I am pretty sure all of those kids weren't offering to care for him in the last years of his life and are cashing in in some way from the Campbell name

I don't  see why restricting pics and cell phones would be a problem for any of them when visting either

I don't  know what his relationships with his kids were all of their lives but his current wife of 32 years clearly was the person who would be calling the shots about certain things -

I am sure it is complicated and maybe she was a witch but I donl;t know where they all were his whole life when he was fine either

Its very easy to say all this when he can't respond so I take some of the wife horror stories with a grain of salt

Travis was playing drums during Tanya's NBC performance....from that,  I thought the Campbell family were in accord with Tanya. But I guess Travis playing with TT was just stirring the pot further. Woman Frustrated

Re: Tanya Tucker's new song about her love for Glen Campbell.

I do not call it stirring the pot that his son played the drums behind Tanya. Tanya went to bat with the older kids to help pass the new laws giving the children the right to see their dad. Maybe they respect and love Tanya.

I do not like the way the step-mother handled the situation with his older kids...her children were treated differently. His older children loved him too and wanted to spend his last years with him. I came from step-parent situation and feel for the children he had with his other wives.
