My goodness, not that it makes anything right, but why are they dragging out everyone,s past from umpteen years ago,? I was appalled when I read KILLING KENNEDY, my beloved President, and the sick things he did. Was it necessary to write about that and tarnish his presidency,? While these women were victims and coming out now, why did a few go back to meet him again? At least that is what I heard in their testimony. Why did they wait 30 years? Some no longer famous, why not come forward a few years ago,? I,m not saying they are not telling their truth, but why wait so long?I haven't read it nor would I trust the author to be accurate.
Why not? Just because he's on a network that you don't like? I hear that he writes in conjunction with another author on his Killing books (he's written several). I don't think he's trying to rewrite history; he just wants to write an entertaining and factual book. Besides, Kennedy's exploits were well known, even back then, albeit underreported, but it was a different time back then.
It's because he's not a historian and I just have a personal distaste for all "pop history". Most of it is a poorly rehashed compilation of other people's work. As I said, I haven't read any of the "killing" books, nor will I. I do ready trashy novels though.
Wasn't he a high school history teacher (or am I thinking of someone else)? I only read Killing Lincoln and I enjoyed it. I've read many books on Lincoln and while this wasn't as in depth as many of them, it was very good.

"killing Lincoln" had inaccuracies. For example, there was no Oval Office when Lincoln was President.

Well that must mean Pres. Kennedy was a faithful husband and never treated women as his s*x toys.

That's a technicality, though. Certainly Lincoln had an office in the WH, but it wasn't referred to as the 'Oval Office' back then. As renovations were made over the decades, it evolved into what the Oval Office looks like now. I'm willing to give the authors a pass on that one.

I saw a thing on this crime, some time back, and IIRC it sounded like they finally had enough evidence on that one friend of his (sorry, I forgot his name) that they were going to be able to indict him. But then I never heard, or have forgotten, where that went.I remember that, too, and I tried to find out for this thread if anyone had been charged, and they haven't yet. The main focus was on his friend John Carpenter (not the director) but he hasn't been charged.
Ahh, so it went nowhere. Well, it really did look like Carpenter killed him but I think they were just about a millimeter shy of being able to feel confident about getting a conviction. I can't even remember now what the facts of the case were. I just remember the feeling that it was probably extremely likely that he was the perpetrator. Thanks! ![]()

Of course you would.

Plenty of those on Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN).
I checked. Lots and lots of Dr. Phil repeats, but no "Designing Women."
LyndaGee, Check the LOGO channel. They show "Designing Women" frequently -- I see several listed in the next few days (and it's on Comcast's On Demand, too). hth
Thanks, DooBDoo!
You're welcome, LyndaGee!

Like 10 of them.
A reviewer, Edward Steers Jr. who himself wrote 5 books on Lincoln, said this:
“If all of the above sounds like nitpicking, consider this. If the authors made mistakes in names, places, and events, what else did they get wrong? How can the reader rely on anything that appears in ‘Killing Lincoln’?”

Wonderful photos of the oval office from 2006 to 1903. Bob Hope even putting (golf) in one.
