Loved your description of all the fun things you did. NYC at Christmas would be a dream come true for this country girl.

@AuntG

I've only been once.  My sister-in-law and I went on a bus trip there at Christmastime about 10 years ago.

I was awe struck at just about everything - seemed bigger than life if that makes sense.

Of course, we spent three hours in Macy's.  That store was amazing!

You mean someone has tried to burn down the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree in the past?

Re: TREE AT ROCKEFELLER CENTER

My sister, BIL, and I went on a bus trip several years ago.  Rockefeller, radio City Rockette show, Bryant Park, Macy’s, and Carmine’s.  It was fabulous.  It’s magical.

I still have not seen the 911 memorial site.  I would like to visit, but maybe too sad.  Not sure I will be back in NYC.  But it was lovely, and  I was 8 years younger then too.

A vagrant known to cops for having a lengthy rap sheet set ablaze the Fox News Christmas tree Wednesday outside a heavily patrolled, tourist-packed corner near Rockefeller Center in Manhattan, police and sources said.

The holiday display was set ablaze shortly after midnight and the flames quickly spread up the tree in Fox Square outside the Sixth Avenue and West 48th Street building that houses Fox News, the Wall Street Journal and the New York Post.

The holiday display Christmas tree in front of News Corp on 1211 6th Ave caught fire a little after midnight on Tuesday night.

Re: TREE AT ROCKEFELLER CENTER

The arson of the Fox News tree happened last year by a very disturbed individual.   I'm not really sure why it was necessary to bring it up in this thread about bronxgal's lovely evening.

@bronxgal1,

Your outing sounds wonderful!  Brings back fun memories.

I lived in Westchester and would always do the tourist-y things at Christmas.  No better place to be.  And my sister and our friend would always see a Broadway show during Christmas week.

I miss the city.

Sounds so exciting and heartwarming!  If I could do something for Christmas, I would pick this.  I would love it, with the exception of the crowds.
