I wrap everyone's gifts.  But will definitely wrap our gifts for the grandkids.  Part of the fun is watching them open them.

I remember one Christmas, when my daughter was about 3, my husband wanted to set up one of her gifts under the tree, instead of wrapping the box.  She was very upset, LOL!  She never did play with that toy.

Our gifts from Santa were never wrapped.  The gifts from our parents and other family always were wrapped.  I still get joy looking at the pictures of the tree with all the unwrapped Santa gifts.

I can still remember seeing the pure delight on my daughter's face Christmas morning when she came down into the living room and saw her new child sized table and chair under the tree all set with her doll tea set and her two new dolls sitting in the chairs all ready for a tea, party.  YOu don't get that by wrapping.

That's something I wouldn't have wrapped either.

I bet she was excited when she saw that!

Same thing in my family growing up.  But with my own family - everything was wrapped.  Gifts from Santa had a tag saying "love, Santa"!!

We didn't do "Santa" gifts growing up, so I had no experience there. But for my own kids, I used gift bags (purchased and carefully hidden up until Christmas eve) to avoid the "hey, that's the wrapping paper we have" problem. Bag sizes depended on what Santa was bringing that year (we never gave the major gifts from Santa -- they were from Mom and Dad -- Santa gifts were usually some smaller, fun things).

I figured Santa out at 2, when I told my mom that "Santa doesn't bring presents, mommies and daddies do." Mom loves to tell that story every year. She knows no one told me, so she thinks I figured it out because people were coming and going in the days before Christmas and gifts kept piling up under the tree at my grandparents' house, where we were staying that year.

It wasn't so much the wrapping as the timing, I think. So if you want to keep the illusion going, make sure there's nothing under the tree until Christmas morning. I obviously grew up not believing in Santa and it made no difference to me, so I wouldn't worry that much if he figures it out. Smiley Happy

Every gift must be wrapped or placed in a gift bag unless it's a crazy size or something.

Wrapped, except for the big gifts (bike, etc).  Half the fun was ripping into the presents and throwing wrapping paper all over the place.

Hmm...we had messy holidays Smiley Happy

I never heard of Christmas gifts to children not being wrapped! Santa's gifts are always wrapped and tied with a ribbon! Its so magical when the kids come down the stairs and see all the wrapped presents under the tree! What fun is it for them if the unwrapped toys are just sitting there? No mystery or excitement! You gotta wrap. I still wrap everything for everyone, and my kids are in their mid-30's!
