You gotta wrap. I still wrap everything for everyone, and my kids are in their mid-30's!
I agree, a bunch of unwrapped toys just look like clutter that needs gathered up and put back in the toy box.

@occasionalrain I take offense at your last sentence since I was one of the people who already stated that Santa's gifts were not wrapped for my kids. TOYS UNDER THE TREE ARE NOT CLUTTER! What ever happened to respect of one's traditions? Without an insult?

I apologize, it was thoughtless.

@JaneMarpleIn all the golden age films, childrens gifts were simply placed under the tree. That's how my parents did it, and I did too

In the fifties Santa never wrapped. waking up and finding a doll, or doll house or bike under the tree was so exciting.
We didn't get huge amounts of gifts the way kids do today. We would each get pjs and maybe a book from our parents and then one big gift from santa.
Santa is still doing the same thing at our house.
Chanukah was mostly little art supplies. My favorite to this day.

I did for my son the way my Mom did for me and my siblings. The big most important (like bikes) items were put under the tree from Santa unwrapped. With a few under the tree with name tags from Santa along with the ones wrapped from my Mom. Then of course small things in our stockings with candy and fruit on the floor in front of the big item Santa left. We each had all our lives the same designated spot in front of the tree for our individual Santa gifts so we would know whose was whose.
Even at 19 years of age that was still my Christmas morning played out. Mom would allow the stereo and t.v.'s I got growing up be from Santa instead of from her even though I knew the truth for many years. Mom loved seeing her teenage children leave Santa cookies and go off to bed as early as possible and still up at dawn.
Christmas starts out for the joy and fun for the children then turns into the joy and fun for the parents with less pressure.
Mom and Santa, wrapped or unwrapped it is all a wonderful Christmas or Christmas memories.

Maybe it matters a bit, as I mentioned in my previous post, how many and what types of gifts are from "Santa"? We never gave big gifts from Santa, and there were plenty of wrapped gifts under the tree in addition to anything from The Big Man. Do some people not put anything under the tree until Christmas and say that all of the gifts are from Santa?

@jonbonwrapped gifts prior to Christmas, were gifts for others. Santa only came after my children had gone to bed ,and were fast asleep

Wrap (Santa always did for us)
3 year old children love to rip off the paper and discover the hidden treasure.

Part of the fun is ripping off the paper and then watch the kids faces when they see their gift. I wrap everything.
