Do you separate whites and colors? Sometimes.
82% said yes / 18% said no
Do you put your bras in the dryer? If they're old.
70% don't / 30% do
Do you leave the washing machine lid open when not in use?
68% do / 32% don't I do, to help prevent mildew. I have no kids or pets. I bet many people who always close it have small pets or kids.
When a label says "hand wash", you:
74% put the item in the washing on the hand wash
cycle
26% wash the item by hand in the sink
I most often machine wash on the gentlest setting.
What order do you load your washer?
44% laundry, soap, start washer
23% soap, laundry, start washer
23% soap, start washer, add laundry
10% laundry, start washer, add soap
This has changed based on my machine. I used to do soap, start washer, add laundry. My new machine won't start unless it's locked and the directions say to add soap first, so now I do soap, laundry, start washer.
Do you leave wet laundry in the dryer overnight?
64% said no
36% said yes
Never on purpose, but I have forgotten sometimes and sometimes longer than overnight. I keep a gallon of vinegar by the washer and add that if I have to rewash and smell any mildew. I haven't had to use it for that in many years, but I still keep one there.

So, what are your laundry habits??

I'm admittedly OCD about my laundry-I like doing it actually-
Yes, separate; whites only, lights, darks, colors etc.
(sheets with sheets, towels with towels, jeans with jeans, blah blah)
Hang bras and all lingerie to dry
Close lid (have kitty cat I worry about)
Sometimes hand wash or use hand wash of machine depending
Start washer, add soap, add laundry
I do not leave wet laundry in dryer (unless I forget)
And, I iron everything-yup, even sheets-find it relaxing-
Soon-clothes line weather! Mmmmm

*Do you separate whites and colors? ALWAYS
**Do you put your bras in the dryer? NEVER
1. Do you leave the washing machine lid open when not in use? ALWAYS
2. When a label says "hand wash", you:
HAND WASH IN SINK
3. What order do you load your washer?
I START WASHER, WAIT UNTIL THERE IS AT LEAST 2 INCHES OF WATER, THEN PUT SMALL AMOUNT OF SOAP IN, SWISH IT AROUND WITH MY HAND AND THEN ADD LAUNDRY
4. Do you leave wet laundry in the dryer overnight?
NEVER
Side note: The only thing I put in the dryer is towels and sheets. Everything else gets hung. And I never use fabric softener or dryer sheets. They are not good for fabric.
I was told by my uncle many years ago never put a full cap of laundry detergent in. You only need several teaspoons to clean a full load. Using too much detergent isn't good for the washer. It breaks down your parts faster. My uncle worked for Sears and repaired washers and dryers for many years. So he knew what he was talking about.

Thanks to all that responded.
@Qshopper1991 I agree about the use of soap. I have been using the laundry balls from HSN for the last few months and so far am happy with them. If I need to whiten a batch of towels, I will use bleach and laundry soap, but only a small amount. If we knew how much soap is left in our clothes, it would probably gross us out LOL.

I drop mine off at the Fluff and Fold. After that, I don't care what happens to it until I pick it wash, dried, and folded.

@Qshopper1991 .... My uncle was a laundry consultant (who would think there would be such a profession!?!) for hospitals and hotels. He also said that you don't need nearly as much detergent as recommended.

I've never even heard of the 'leaving the washer door open' bit. Learned something new. Never had a mildew problem, though, but I'm in an arid climate. Is there another reason to do this?
Also agree with those who recommend using less detergent. i've done that for many years.
My habits are basic - when there is enough for a load I do the laundry. I don't separate anything, but then I don't care for white so I don't think we have anything white.
I also don't put my bras in the dryer. I hang each one on a hanger with those notches for the straps. I wash them in a net bag with compartments.
