Re: Suggestions for Graduation Gifts?

Recent college graduates appreciate cash more than anything. i agree about young people and engraved watches. The only watches that most young people wear today are  Apple Watches.

I agree.  This is the one time that a monetary gift is the most appropriate, especially if the individual  is going to college, which costs a fortune these days.

ETA:  Sorry, I didn’t read carefully that this already a college grad!  However, that does not change my answer.  He probably has huge loans to pay.

Re: Suggestions for Graduation Gifts?

I am the proud mom of an upcoming college graduate! Smiley Happy

I like @Abrowneyegirl 's idea of the framed diploma. I think that's one thing that would be special to anyone, and I will bet not a lot of people would think about it. It would always remind the graduate of you!

I also like @godi's idea. DS will be staying there to work and moving into a new apartment. He is a LONG way from us! He will be shopping for things without me there, and I'm sure he would appreciate cards from Target or Bed, Bath, and Beyond. When people ask me what to get him, I will give them this idea. Money is always a good idea, but some like to send gift cards in the mail. I was hoping he would be a little closer to home. Smiley Sad

Re: Suggestions for Graduation Gifts?

For college graduates I always do a gift card from an upscale department store so they can increase their wardrobe for working.

For high school graduates I always do a Star Buck gift card for late night studying (or after partying) and needing caffeine/sugar help.

Re: Suggestions for Graduation Gifts?

Not all graduates appreciate cash. Giving Apple watches as a graduation gift is very good choice. But almost most people have watches. You can also try something else. Alternatively, you have many options like digital camera, watch, money, coffee maker (for coffee lover), etc. I purchased a jar with 31 personalized messages from KindNotes for my little sister when she did graduate. And my family gave her money. She loved my gift more than money.

Re: Suggestions for Graduation Gifts?

@barb40  We're giving money, since he'll be going off to college and no doubt, will need some money.  I think he's changed his mind, but he was shooting to go to college to become a brain surgeon. He IS that smart.

Re: Suggestions for Graduation Gifts?

It depends on what the graduate’s future plans are....if he is entering the job market right away, something job-related would be nice like a framed diploma for his office (if he will have one) but I think cash and gift cards to nice restaurants would be appreciated

The consensus is CASH!! Cash is king. Let them buy what they want.
