Re: Stuffed cabbage with fruit?

I like apples stewed with sauerkraut and sometimes put fruit in coleslaw -- both cabbage dishes.........so it doesn't seem such a jump to put fruit in stuffed cabbage, although I've never eaten it that way. Some stuffed cabbage recipes have sweet and spicy flavors that might go OK with fruit, it seems to me.

I agree...not a fan of cooked cabbage and can not imagine it with fruit.

I don't know about cabbage and raisins but many Italians do use currants and pine nuts in their meatballs - it's a regional thing.

My FIL used them in his braciole.

Never cooked cabbage and fruit, but I've seen raisins in cole slaw often. Sometimes also with julienned carrot strips.

I use fruit a lot in cooking because I keep my sodium intake as low as I possibly can. The fruit in chicken and pork andt chopped meat dishes sort of leads my taste buds away from my overpowering desire for salt in those foods and in another direction.
