Re: Stimulus checks and vaccines

I heard on the news that 30% of medical professional working in healthcare environments have decided against getting vaccinated. They had a couple different sources.

Because those are the taxpayers that will be paying off the debt.

Can't know what extra expenses anyone took on in the lockdown.

So fabulous that at least 70% of medical professionals are already committed to getting vaccinated! That is wonderful news.

There are always those who genuinely cannot get any vaccinations for health reasons. We all get vaccinated to protect them and give them the benefit of herd immunity. And then there are those who are cautious and still waiting to be assured the Covid vaccine is safe, for both valid and non-valid reasons.

Re: Stimulus checks and vaccines

I am retired and on a fixed income.  I am spending much less money than before the pandemic.  I am not going out to eat, to plays or movies, no exercise classes.  I am cooking at home and having groceries delivered.

If you receive a stimulus check from our government, and you do not need the money, by all means mail it back to the government.  Or, place the check in your shredder.

@Dusty1, I've read that repeatedly. I have a hunch, though, that most who refuse are not physicians.

@suzyQ3  .. I have to agree with you.  None of the physicians I have spoken to have said not to get the vaccine.  But no one is forcing people to get it if they wish not to.  I, personally, got my first dose on Wednesday and am extremely grateful.   I have health issues that might put me at risk if I were to get covid.  I will be getting my second dose on March 3rd.

I don't necessarily believe everything I read.   There is a lot of misinformation out there.   But I have discussed this with quite a few physicians.. some are Infectious disease specialists, and they all recommended that we get it.  And what do you mean by medical people??  Unless they are physicians, I don't give what they say much weight.

@Boehm Collector

I respect a lot of people's opinions. And, even when I don't agree with them I will listen to & respect their right to their opinion.

By medical people I mean nurses, physicians & others that work in the medical field.

I am truly not trying to be disagreeable. But, I see so many "opinions" on both sides of the issue. From people in all walks of life & I don't give a lot of weight to what many specialists think.

I have gone to specialists for solutions to problems & it seems like if you don't have a machete sticking out of your head they spend a lot of my time & money trying to figure out why I have a pain in my whatever! So to think that they have figured out the solution to this new pandemic in a matter of months sort of boggles the mind.

I don't think anyone has the "answer" & so I remain open to hearing both sides of the issue & being able to decide for myself what I feel comfortable with.

Wow. I sound quit disagreeable there. Sorry. Not directed at you.

ok with receiving stimulus checks.  The checks should be the reward for getting vaccinated. 😎.  Money is a strong motivator.

This is simply ridiculous, and this kind of thinking is just another reason our nation is in such a mess.

I bet this is the same person who will state 'my body my choice', but only as it pertains to certain things.

Money is a strong motivatior but it doesn't fix stupid.

@Dusty1, one thing to consider when you just read or see that a lot of medical people are not taking the vaccine is that many of them have contracted COVID from working with the patients and they are waiting to receive their vaccinations for others to have the opportunity since they feel like they are covered for a while with their own antibodies they acquired from having COVID.

I know at least one doctor and 2 nurses personally that are doing just that.  But, they fully intend on taking the vaccine once it is out there with the general population having the opportunity and then they will jump in to get their vaccine.  I know many nurses and doctors here in our area and they have all received their vaccines, both doses.   I have also volunteered with a site that was set up to vaccinate health care workers and we were busy, busy for weeks vaccinating health care workers.
