Re: Stephen Colbert's New Show

Jon Stewart would have been perfect for the Tonight Show.  Don't know if it was ever offered to him, or if it was and he turned it down, but he would have been the best choice.

If you watch the end credits Jon Stewart is listed as executive producer on this new late show on cbs.

I honestly don't know but I think the Colbert Report had better ratings than Jon Stewart.

to anyone wondering what his character was on the Colbert Report  he said he played a narcissist Conservative pundit but now he's just a narcissist but I would say it wasn't really that much of a character because he wasn't always in character.

Isn't ANYONE going to answer my and another posters question as to what do you all mean Colbert played a CHARACTER on his other show....

I never seen that show....and apparently neither did the other poster...and we would like someone to tell us what we missed..

I wasn't too impressed with the first two shows....but have to say last night with Biden was very touching....and it did make me cry...

Colbert did a great job interviewing him...the two of them interacted quite well...

Sorry, honey.

Here:

http://www.cc.com/shows/the-colbert-report

Stephen's awesome show, "The Colbert Report", came on late night right after Jon's awesome "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart".

Most of their stuff was/is dry-wry-sly humor, which I adore, but also know that not everyone gets or appreciates.

Both shows were on Comedy Central, but you can still catch episodes online at Comedy Central, YouTube, and Hulu.

Hope you enjoy it!  Smiley Happy

P.S.

This applies to everyone, BTW:

Instead of waiting for Q board posters to quickly answer a question that does not require their opinion or experience, it's much easier and faster to just look stuff up on Google.

Just because someone (of any age) posts on the Q boards doesn't make their information any better than other Internet posters.

We can't expect others to answer our questions - especially in a timely (to us) manner - if at all.

We can only rely on ourselves.

Thanks for the link....I don't have full cable....so I had no idea about his show....but after watching it just now...it would not be a program I would have tuned into after the first show or two...He is way to childish for my taste....but I am glad to have had the chance....thanks to you, ...to see what I was missing....

You're welcome.  8)

And I understand that humor is subjective.

And also re: what luxuries (like full cable) each person can afford.

I haven't had a TV for the last 5 years, but I still try to stay updated and relevant as it's important to learn and grow, evolve and adapt.

I think also because I'm naturally curious, that helps as well.

You can still keep up with the rest of the world if you're interested in doing so, through the great blessing and cool magic of the Internet.

If you're fortunate to have a computer at home - or your own transportation to access the library's - you can read, watch, and hear just about anything in the world.

That way, you can understand what others are talking about, whether it be current events or - one of my faves - pop culture.  8-)

Colbert is a local Jersey guy, and very likable, very funny, and a valuable contributing member in local society.

Time will tell if this is his niche, but if it's not, he'll find his footing and be wonderful in something else.

I LOVED the "Is he for real or not" nature of his previous character, and faithful watchers know that he was about as good with improvisation as written comedy.

I'm not ready to give up on his current slot just yet.

Kinda; more like NY/NJ, but less than Jon Stewart is.

But they're both East Coast dudes for sure.

Stephen was born in Washington, D.C., and raised in SC.

Jon was born in NYC, and grew up in NJ.

Like you, I enjoy clever satire,  which is exactly what Stephen's show was all about.

Jon's also, to a degree, but he was not playing a character as you know.

But many people - including some Q posters on this and other threads - don't 'get' its irony and playful sarcasm.

Unfortunately good comedians don't necessarily make good talk show hosts.  I haven't watched any 'new' talk shows/hosts for years now.

But I will say I think Ellen is better as a talk show host than a comedian.  Rosie O'Donnell as well (NOT The View but when she had her own talk show, pre-Tom Selleck, when she used to do broadway shows and have fun).

Good grief, sorry it is so hard for you to reply without a lecture.  Not that it is so pressing or important, but in this particular case, when you Google you can see his clips.  That doesn't tell you what "character" he played if you don't know what character he is.  With your logic, there is really no reason to ask or discuss anything on here since all of us can Google anything and everything.
