Last night I turned on the front lights and saw the biggest spider web ever. There was a huge spider in the center of the web (shudders) and I had no raid, so I sprayed it with a few household cleaners and it ran off the web and into the landscaping. I removed the web but OMG that spider was really large, the largest I can recall seeing. Right by my front door too. I hope I killed it.

@Snoopp@I don’t think you killed it...spiders are tough to kill.My husband calls me Black widow as I am always on a hunt to kill those beasts.I have sprayed with direct hits and they shrivel and then revive. We get bitten often when we work in the yard and those bites swell and itch for weeks and actually seem to kill skin tissue.Takes months to heal and looks awful with big scabs.

I've noticed they are big and fat this time of year and make huge webs. They're fast when feel in danger....keep a can of hairspray nearby - be very calm - aim can as up close to them as possible - and then FIRE. Sticky hairspray will dry and freeze their 'parts' from moving. Shhh - take good aim!

Shades of "Harry Potter" anyone?
I don't kill spiders, I just coexist with them. If they get in the house, I capture them and release them outside. They have a place in the ecosystem.

Ugh! Not a fan of spiders---not even teeny ones.
I never leave the lights on at my doorways this time of year because of spiders.
We have a light post at the sidewalk and low lights in the flowerbeds, so it's not pitch black walking up to the house.
But nothing is creepier than walking up to someone's front door and seeing spider webs all over.

I've had one at my front door for a few days now. It's close to the wall / side of the door where the hinges are, so it's not bothered much by the door's opening and closing. It'll move around a bit when the door opens but soon settles back into its web. It's fairly large so I've left it alone.

Once they come inside and invade my territory I kill them. I don't care what their place in society is!

@Venezia@You are brave. If we didn’t get bit so much I might not have become such a hostile hunter.Last year I was bitten on my neck and that one swoll up really badly and it actually was uncomfortable for me to talk and eat.I have even been bitten down in the private area,...how that guy got me there scares me to think about.

I really, really, dislike spiders. The past several years I have noticed an increase in their variety and population at our home and surrounding landscaping. Half wondering if it is something we did to contribute, ie., installing stone retaining walls, and adding boulders along the driveway....
But anyway, I told my husband I had enough and finally relented to having our home's exterior perimeter professionally sprayed, along with the garage and unfinished basement. We had it done this summer and it really has helped and we are going to schedule semi annually. I garden and like another poster get those dang spider bites that itch like crazy and takes weeks to heal.
