I'm more interested in reading threads about well-known people who have died than someone's family member or friend I don't know anything about.
I suggest if a thread is not a TOU violation and it bothers you, don't read it.
@PearleeHow many well-known people do you actually know??
Sharing experiences and compassion to posters dealing with grief and loss is not about "knowing anything about them" - it's about being human.
DitzyDori is going through a very hard time with her DH in end stage. Her pain is palatable.
Another poster just lost a family member.
Since when are the deaths of celebrities, who most here have never met either, are more important than the hurt a poster here is experiencing???
@goldensrbest Made a statement. It is her pov regarding death. And sometimes this place reads like a gossip magazine when it comes to celebrities.
Yes, we all have the option to ignore threads but honestly opening celebrity death threads are usually just filled with RIP and most really don't care-it's a common phenomena because the "name" is known.
I am saddened to see that some feel that an "unknown" poster's sharing of hurt and pain pales in comparison to the latest gossip about the celebrity du jour.

And please don't let a family member post here that I died😜
Someone insensitive would post "I've never heard of her".
That might be one of the kinder comments...lol.

@Cakers3 You are misinterpreting my post which you quoted but didn't read accuarely.. Go back and read it, since you quoted it. I didn't say celebrity deaths are more important, I said they are more interesing to me. And by the way, I don't know posters on this board either, and I know a lot of celebrities more, at least in terms of maybe having spent hours of my life at their films or watching their TV series, or their having an effect on my life such as a politician or world leader. I didn't know JFK either but his death certainlly had a huge impact on me and still affects me emotionally on the anniversary of his assassination, much more so that the friend or relativve or in-law of a poster in some forum I don't usually read. Frankly, it amazies me when people here ask people to pray for people they haven't a clue about. And who are you to sit in judgment and condemn what's interesting to me or not? That's my opinion as to what I find interesting - you have your own, I'm sure, which is no better or worse than mine.

Sometimes I don't check TMZ, so I do want to know if someone famous passes.

Some took the word "race" I used and "ran" with it. Boom! 😂

I agree!
Posts about anyone's death (celebrity or otherwise) are usually posts that I scroll past, but if other people want to read and comment, that's certainly fine with me. Not every topic here is meant to be of interest to every one of us.
I think the only time I ever contributed to a thread re a celebrity death was Joan Rivers, who I actually knew. Other than that, my habit is to move on to another topic without reading or adding to the discussion. I would be far more likely to post about a well-known person's death rather than something so personal in my own family.

@goldensrbest wrote:When posting about love ones that have died, it is finding compassion, helping in ones loss, but famous people we do not know , i don't understand what the reason is.
It's because people have shared experiences re famous people - Celebrities that many posters admired, memories of seeing them in concert or on stage, recollections of watching them on TV as a child, admiration for their charitable work or professional accomplishments, etc. Even though we don't know each other here, we all can talk about famous people because we're all familiar with them. It's something that lots and lots of people have in common, even though we may not know each other.
