Re: Some S&H charges going up

BTW, for the Walmart ladies here, I read where Walmart now offers free two day shipping on orders, no matter how small.  You have to sign up for a yearly charge of, if I recall correctly, $49.

Re: Some S&H charges going up

Most of my shopping is done online, I never was a mall shopper. Lately I've been shopping with HSN quite a bit, in May I bought an Air conditioner from them with free S&H, the price was about the same if I had gone to a store to buy it. I've bought several items of clothing all with free shipping also, BTW their clothing prices are much more reasonable than QVC.

If I want a particular item, I check prices everywhere (unless it's exclusive to QVC).  If I find that item at another retailer for a lower price (or even the same) with free shipping then, yes, to me the S&H is free.

Some retailers have higher profit margins than others.

If the bottom line, on-your-doorstep price  is $10-15-20+ LESS, what difference does it make whether the s&h is built-in? What it actually means in that case is that the price is a LOT less.

If QVC charges $100 for something "s&h included" and Amazon or somewhere else charges $70 with free shipping, you have still saved $30. Who cares WHY? There is another vendor out there *who can provide the item for less REGARDLESS of s&h.*

Just checked out a cute pair of ankle boots from QVC that cost $130 and the shipping cost is $10.97!!!  That's it, I'm done with QVC.  I've shopped here for a long time and have spent plenty, but this is the end of the line for me.

Nordstrom has a lot of their boots on sale, free shipping both ways. I bought riding boots yesterday, regular price $198 for $119

Re: Some S&H charges going up

I always include the s&h as part of my purchase price when I consider any item.  I only buy items here that cannot be purchased elsewhere.

I like the NutriSystem shakes.  I can't find them anywhere else alone so I have to swallow the cost (pun intended).  Shipping is almost 10%

For VPH and everything else I look for something similar.  Nothing is that special.

I agree they offer better prices, shipping, and some special 20% off deals.  I never watched them very much, but the weekend QVC had 3 full days of Christmas programming, I went to HSN for distraction (many things to do in the house that I had avoided!).  Anyway, I discovered Samantha Brown and recently bought one of her sweaters ($10 off for the birthday event, plus 20% off and free shipping).  Just got it today and love it.  I also like Sigrid Olsen, although I haven't found anything of hers I actually need.

I've stopped ordering anything from QVC unless I know I will keep it.  I know the Dr. Denese and Dr. Gross products, WEN, and Tatcha cleanser, so I feel confident to pay the one way shipping.  But I can't bring myself to spend $10 to try something out. And like everyone else, if I see it at QVC, I check everywhere else to make sure I can't get a better price before I order.  I think QVC charges a premium because they have easy pay.

I do the same. The only things I buy at QVC are things I can't buy elsewhere, or a TSV for cosmetics/skin care that is a price that can't be beat by a longshot - they do have a few of those. Anything else, there are better prices elsewhere.

@Moonchilde - yup.  Perfect example, true story.  There's a specific set of pool steps I was looking for.  When I put the order in to the pool place, the steps were $375, and were to be truck shipped and I would be contacted regarding shipping.  They called the next morning to advise that the shipping charge was $135!!!  GASP, and to top it off, I would have to help unload it from the truck when it arrived!  Good grief - I cancelled the order.

I had been unable to find these specific steps anywhere else, but took one last shot and low and behold, they showed up on Amazon (they hadn't before, so I was really pleasantly surprised).  Price was $385, s&h was FREE.  They are the same steps, same manufacturer, same model number.
