I've worn about every sock material made, including US Army issued Wool, and I have never had an itching problem. Never heard any of my 3 sisters or my wife mention having this issue.

Are you two diabetic?  That adds additional challenges, from what I understand, involving the feet and legs.

LOL No, I'm healthy as a horse. Can't see up close, but, can see a fly on the wall 5 miles away. Do 30 min on a recumbent bike 3-4 days a week. Knees wasn't worth a snooth till I took myself in hand and dropped 50 pds. and started eating like I had some sense. Could still lose 10 more, but, not having knee problems any more, so, I'll see how much I can get by with.

LOL  To good of a dang cook is my problem. Blood pressure goes up when I have to go to Dr or dentist, so, try not to go to Dr. dentist every 6 mos. I tell them don't worry about it it's temporary. At home it's 131 over 82. There, it's out of this world . I'm reading books on Relaxation and mediation trying to fix this temporary problem. Breathing to reduce inner anxiety, etc.   Husband thinks it's all B S, but, it's free to try. LOL

i almost never wear socks......my feet always feel too "claustrophobic" in a way. i do wear vionics in the house. i also get regular pedicures to help with dry skin and cracked heels. you may want to look into a product called BABY FOOT......i found out about it via the beauty forums.

I don't think this is exacrly the same problem you are speaking about but I have a problem with all kinds of socks and getting too warm and having some kind of reaction.  If I get warm at all and have socks on, I break out in a horrible, itching rash around my ankles and lower legs.  I have had this for years and the doctors can't seem to figure out why.  But this happens all year long.  I try to wear very low socks as much as possible but there are times you have to wear higher ones.  I have found that the looser weave and lighter socks I wear, the better.  Also, cotton is better.  If you can find ones with very little elastic, this helps.  But good luck with that.

I have even resorted to using an over the counter cortisone cream and this helps somewhat.

Any one else get itchy ankles when you turn on the heat and start wearing socks? We hate to start to wear them when it gets cold. Anybody know of a sock brand that doesn't leave you itching your ankles till they bleed. I hate to mess with messy creams. Your feet are cold and you have to wait till the cream absorbs then you put on socks and they make you itch.

You may have an allergy to elastic.  My sister does and she has to wear socks without any elastic in them and then she's fine.  But before she figured it out she had the same problems you're describing.

It's entirely possible the fabric really has nothing to do with it, and the problem is a sensitivity to your chosen laundry detergent.

@chickenbutt

Where do you find cotton socks, clothes etc.  I am a cotton gal too, but I am finding it difficult to find cotton clothing.  If you wouldn't mind I would appreciate suggestions.  Thank you

I also must wear 100% cotton socks and they are very difficult to find.  The brand I order is Buster Brown from The Vermont Country Store.  (They also happen to be having a free shipping offer, expires 12/15/15, on orders of $65.00 or more.)

Gold Toe used to offer 100% cotton socks, but they discontinued them many years ago.  The all cotton socks do wear out a lot faster, however.

My feet need to "breathe" otherwise they break out in a severe rash, so I sure hope they keep making these socks.

I try to wear all cotton clothing too.  I agree that it's getting more difficult to find.  I buy most of my tops, T-shirts and sweaters from LL Bean or Lands End.  I used to be able to find some 100% cotton dresses at Tog Shop, Appleseeds or Talbots; however, they don't have as much as they used to.  @DottieBlue mentioned The Vermont Country Store which is also a good resource for cotton items.  I no longer wear slips but I remember that was the only place that had a 100% cotton slip.
