@SilleeMee  I think Ancestry DNA is the most specific as to where.  I honestly really just want the medical information.  I could care less about my ethnic background which is why I went with 23andMe.  That info will be for entertainment purposes only.

That is what I used, Ancestry @Laura14.

Re: So I ordered one of those DNA/Genetic tests...

I was first introduced to FamilyTree DNA at a 2006 seminar they gave that was sponsored by the genealogical society I belonged.  That's where we did our first DNA test for haplogroups.

We weren't interested in finding relatives - just our ancient origins and how we fit "into the scheme of things."  We already knew what countries our immigrant ancestors came from, when they got here, and how they got here.

When the new tests were introduced ... we upgraded.  I wanted all the results in one place - so back to FamilyTreeDNA.

One of the "fun" results from FamilyTreeDNA ... they also report on autosomal DNA for markers that we all carry from ancient times.  My European ancestry includes:

12% metal age invader

45% early farmer (age after hunter gatherer)

42% hunter gatherer

@Laura14

As I mentioned .... we're 99% European.  That other 1% has not been identified.  My brother thinks that may be our "ancient alien" marker!

@Laura14

Ancient Aliens is a series that's been on the History Channel for years.

There's a bunch of people who believe that aliens from outer space were instrumental in populating Earth.  It's a really "kick" to watch.  They are the craziest bunch I've seen in one place.  Some of the stuff they come out with is just so absurd.

I know nothing about these DNA tests but loved your mom's response. She must have a great sense of humor. Smiley Happy

@ALRATIBA  Really?  I might be Vulcan or Romulan or Betazoid?  I think I would be Betazoid.  I resemble them and I am very empathetic.  Smiley Very Happy  I knew I loved Star Trek for a reason.  If I ever go dressed to a convention, I now know my people.  LOL!! Smiley Tongue

@akaburtonfan  Think Sophia Petrillo from the Golden Girls.  That was her mother and she is Sophia Junior but quickly getting the whole character down.

She can go ahead and make fun but she didn't answer the question.  So when it comes back that I belong to the gypsies, I already warned her she's making the flight to see Judge Judy and I want my $5000.
