Tried to edit but could not so I will add it, The first WTC bombing while my husband was working at 6 WTc this was 30 years ago and 3 months before our wedding, he could not be reached for a few hours I was really scared, and I will conclude with 9-11 the worst day in American history and my life I was in the battery Tunnel when the first plane hit and standing on the street when the second plane hit,

JFK being elected President. I grew up in a politically aware family and decided I was for Kennedy. I was so excited when my mom woke me up and told me he won.

@I am still oxox - I'm about the same age as you, also from NY.
I think I was in 4th grade when JFK was shot. We were all jammed into a classroom and a TV was brought in to watch it. I know it was significant history, but at the time, I really didn't understand what was happening.
I remember the blackouts, especially that first one. And Son of Sam. I was into the "clubs" at that time. Long dark hair (who didn't have it back then??). I remember going to some clubs on a Friday night and the places would be empty because of this guy.
To me, 911 is still the worst thing to happen in my lifetime. I can almost remember every detail of that day. I worked for a large corporate company in Westchester and after the 2nd tower fell, my boss told me to go home. I was terrified to leave the safety of the office as I had no idea what was going on out there. I pray that nothing like that ever happens to us again.

The first significant event I remember is Sputnik. I was young and don't really remember if I was impressed by Sputnik or my parent's, along with other adult family members reaction to it.
I do remember feeling bad for Able and Miss Baker but that was a couple of years later and I was more in tune with what was going on in the world.
So many significant events--some good, some not at all good--all life changing in some way.
I remember the Sunday morning WW11 started, my cousin and his friend, left to go home to sign up for the army. I was 7

I'm 62, I'd have to write a book to answer that question.
