@JeanLouiseFinch Hi there. Do you mean The Jonestown Massacre? I don't think anyone is alive that remembers Jamestown.

@Mz iMac,  Able and Miss Baker were the first two monkeys launched into subspace and returned safely.  If you do a search on them there is a lot of information.

Able died June 1, 1959,  Baker died November 29, 1984, at the age of 27 and is buried on the grounds of the United States Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. Able was preserved, and is now on display at the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum.

Able was a rhesus macaque;  Miss Baker, was a squirrel monkey.

Re: Significant History You Have Lived

I was watching the take off of the Challenger and saw the explosion as it happened. I was working in an office building where there was a TV in the lobby. I, along with all the others in the lobby were horrified in disbelief.

Re: Significant History You Have Lived

First signifcant event I remember was the Cuban missle crisis.  I was 12 and it was scary.  Then the next year JFK's assassination.  So many since then.  9/11 and Covid have changed the world.  Not looking forward to what may lie ahead especially with AI becoming more prevalent.

Re: Significant History You Have Lived

I remember seeing the news video clips of WWII at the movie theaters. Later I remember riding a streetcar in our area, to see President Truman dedicate a Memorial Park in honor of WWII.

Too many I remember after to list, except 1 more. On 9-11-01 I remember President Bush being taken on Air Force 1, to the underground Command Headquarters at The SAC, just outside our City.

COVID19 was definitely history making.  I hope we as humans, learned from it and all of our mistakes.

Amen!!! You took the words right out of my fingers!😁

Challenger explosion. I was in 5th grade.

OJ Simpson car chase. I was eating dinner watching it. I delayed taking a shower to see how it ended. Then I decided to take a shower. They were still driving after I finished.

The OJ Simpson verdict. I was in my college art class. During my break, some guy on campus yelled "OJ not guilty". God I was hoping he was wrong. I was so angry.
