Should the Father be charged???

Seems his 16-year-old daughter snuch her boyfriend in her room after everybody was in bed. The younger brother went in to say good night, noticed feet under the bed (lol) and went and got the father.

When Dad went in..the girl denied knowing the boy, a arugement ensued and the boy was shot and killed.

Should dad be charged?

how heartbreaking. that girl will feel guilt for years to come in not speaking up and saying it was her boyfriend. the father appears to have thought it was an intruder in his child's room.

No the father should not be charged. The daughter should be charged though for lying to her Dad, and that lead to the Dad killing the boy.

Not really enough info to make a decision. I think I would have needed to be a fly on the wall.

I guess my gut says it seems there should have been an alternative to shooting him{#emotions_dlg.confused1}, but without being there, it's hard to say.

Yes, the father should be charged. So he found a boy in his daughter's room. That does NOT give him free reign to kill the kid.

He had other options, such as throwing the kid out.

It's hard to make a decision, based on our lack of information. The boyfriend may have also been armed.....or he may have attacked the man. In either of those two scenarios, I would think the man was justified.

If the boyfriend didn't attack or otherwise provoke the use of a weapon, then the man should have just held him at gunpoint until law enforcement arrived....and he should be charged with the shooting.

Re: Should the Father be charged???

No, absolutely not. The information he had was that there was an intruder in his home (daughter lied). He called 911 and an argument ensued, which escalated into the shooting. When the daughter saw that the father had his gun, she should have come clean right there. Also, an accused home invader arguing with a man holding a gun is a very bad idea.

Re: Should the Father be charged???

The father thought he was an intruder based on his daughter's lie. His reaction was to protect his daughter from potential harm. We don't have all the facts but on the face of it he should not be charged. This is a real tragedy.

the father saw an intruder in his daughters room and not a kid.
