@STYLE Your sister is confusing a credit card with the Costco card. It's easy to get a Costco card. When I applied for mine years ago I was asked if I was interested in also getting a credit card. I say No and that was the end of it.

Just because you're "old" and can read the OP's post only means something to you, and your current eyesight condition.
Since most of the posters here are usually over 40 years old, it's safe to assume they have eyesight issues ... nearsighted, farsighted, astigmatism, cataracts, etc etc etc.
I think people should take that into consideration when posting anything ... anywhere.
Having said that, I don't know which is more inconsiderate ... all caps or that teeny tiny font #1.
JMO, of course.

ITA. Not only is all caps yelling at us, but it's very hard to read unless the poster uses plenty of paragraphs.
I hope @STYLE reads this.
The use of all caps should be a non issue. Especially since the post was not directed at a specific poster or posters.
Some people use all caps because they have difficulty using the shift key on the keyboard.
Or the Op is just that upset,
In any event, it's no biggie.

I think that we should try to remember that some members may have problems with their vision and that may be why they are using a larger font/posting in caps when they post.
I try and keep that in mind when I see things typed in a certain way here.

Also, I hate to even suggest this, but some workers (not calling out Costco specifically) are incentivized for selling or upselling items to customers so the rep helping her may have been counting on her being old and confused to sell her a credit card.
I'm not saying that this happened to this lady, but it does happen. I sometimes process items that people return to my location by mistake, and the letter they include states that it was sold to them but they never authorized it, and unfortunetly, based on the hand writing, it looks to me that the letters are from older people. .

Relax...these are standard questions for any credit card...and almost 90% of Costco cards ARE credit cards. I love Costco - we moved two years ago to an area that
has NO Costco, NO Whole Foods...only a Sam's. NO comparison....

I am aware of the all caps "yelling" association. I have always thought it funny that the etiquette of online communication is very strict about caps vs. lower case, but not only doesn't it matter if spelling, grammar, or vocabulary are fractured--it is actually frowned upon to point out infractions regarding those things.
I don't know why some people are taken to task for one thing while other "rules" are commonly ignored or flat out deemed inconsequential! If online communication is a free for all, then let it all go!

We've been Costco members for years and I NEVER remember having to provide such information.

SHE WAS SO UPSET WITH THIS NONSENSE SHE TOLD THE CLERK THAT COSTCO IS JUST NOT FRIENDLY TO WIDOWS. WHO DO THEY THINK STHEY ARE. ITS A LOUSY WHOLESALE CLUB. GETTING TOO BIG FOR THEIR PANTS.
Surely you must realize you can get a Costco membership card online, no questions asked. Clearly, they thought your sister was applying for a credit card.
I hope you reassured her of that so she can get things sorted out .... right?
