I haven't seen it . . . and say what you will . . . but I think the majority of American's support Chris Kyle . . . I've read reports that many theaters the audience breaks into applause at the end of the movie.

The movie is a huge success.

Bradley Cooper by all accounts had an amazing performance.

Clint Eastwood hit it out of the park with this one.

The majority of Americans overwhelmingly support our soldiers and the job they do in support of and defending our country.

Smaug.....I just finished reading the article from the San Diego Reader whose link you posted. Very interesting read and thank you for posting but then I took a look a the comments and found this:

A source at the Naval Special Warfare Command states: Our take is that Jesse Ventura is a SEAL. He even did his reserve time in SEAL Team ONE. He earned and wears the trident....Captain Larry Bailey is probably the best guy to talk to about this, but OFFICIALLY, we think its splitting hairs by Salisbury and the Navy considers Jesse Ventura as a former SEAL… Hope that helps.

Captain Larry Bailey states: JESSE VENTURA SEAL OR NOT? Jesse Ventura went through UDT/SEAL Class 58 in 1970 and was assigned to UDT-12, where he spent three years (including three deployments fo Subic Bay, Philippines). As a UDT frogman, he operated in Viet Nam waters and earned the US Viet Nam Service Ribbon. He undoubtedly, like so may UDT men of that era, went ashore in Viet Nam for short periods of time. After he was released from active duty in 1973, he joined Reserve SEAL Team ONE. The point here is that all graduates of BUD/S are referred to within the Naval Special Warfare community as SEALs. They received the same training, whether they went to SEAL Teams or Underwater Demolition Teams. The case made by Commander Salisbury on Fox News Channel recently is without merit; Jesse Ventura is a SEAL by any definition. Larry Bailey, Captain, USN (Ret.)

R.D. and Pam Russell, Co-Directors of Navel Special Warfare Archives state:

The official view point of the Archives is that Jesse was a SEAL. He completed BUD/S and the SEAL course in the desert. The west coast used UDT as a man power pool so they could pull people at any time without there being a training delay.

But I get it Gato...those who had to kill and saw their friends get killed resent Ventura.

Found, I cannot find any source that repeats what you posted. If you google the text it will come up in Wiki under 'List of SEALs" but the text has been removed by the editor because 'the MN governor's office confirmed Ventura was not a SEAL'. If you can find a legit source that repeats Captain Bailey's statement said please post it. Personally I think it's bogus.

BTW Ventura did not sue Salisbury. I have no doubt if Salisbury's article contained any false information about Ventura he would have been at the court clerk's office to file a complaint at 8AM that morning.

Governor Ventura's office confirmed that Ventura was never a member of the elite Navy SEALs, but he says he did train to be a SEAL, and that his membership in the Navy's Underwater Demolition Teams was practically the same as being a SEAL.

Gato.....I'm pretty exhausted now and have other things to do. I believe you are correct when you say Ventura would have sued Salisbury if he wasn't speaking the truth.....although he'd have to prove that it damaged his livelihood like he did with his recent lawsuit.

Quackertoo mentioned audiences applauding at the end. Around here, you could hear a pin drop. People sadly and quietly walk out of the theatre as if attending a funeral. We went today and it was a full house.

BTW it was a jury in Minnesota who heard the suit and awarded their former governor damages.

And we all know that juries are never wrong in their conclusions and never biased right? Not even when the judge failed to instruct jurors properly and clear up obvious jury confusion (according to Kyle's attorneys) and the defense had 11 witnesses who corroborated the (deceased) defendant's statement while the prosecution produced 3 supporting witnesses.

The 10 jurors hit an impasse during deliberations and came to a verdict after lawyers from both sides agreed to accept an 8-2 split decision. Neither side knew at the time where the jury stood.

Anyway I hope those who see/saw the film are moved by it. I'm looking forward to watching it.

Thank God Fox is faithful to show us the kind of news that deserves to be told. Wonder if this story was told by any other channel in this detail or not at all.
