I was frankly surprised at how much information was shared at the news conference. Even though the details would have surfaced eventually, the graphic and intimate disclosure volunteered by the Sheriff official was off-putting.
I agree. I don't know why we need to know all the details.

It was upsetting to listen to that press conference. Certainly they have their reasons for some of those details, and personally I think part of it might have been allowed because of unsavory gossip that cropped up on the internet within hours of his death. Such a sweet, sensitive fellow, he touched so many of us more than we realized.

There's no way in this day and age that a well-known person can die without the details. The days of covering up the details is long gone.

I'm not saying they should cover it up. They could say he hung himself without all the details.

Has nothing to do with trying to cover anything up. It's about decorum and human decency. The news conference yesterday bordered on sensationalism generally reserved for tabloid journalism rather than a statement by an official sheriff's department spokesperson.

On "All Things Considered" (NPR Show) last night, one of the hosts was talking to former talk-show host D*ck Cavett, who also suffers from depression. It helped me to understand a bit better.
My best friend down here killed himself in 2004; it's awful for friends and family. Cavitt talked about that in a very moving and insightful way.
