The source of the confirmation by hanging came from the (Marin County) Sheriff's Office. I'm sure a lot more information will be announced at the 2:00 news conference. If he was planning this for a while he may have left a note in an obscure location that hasn't yet been found. He was recently in a rehab facility for severe depression. I wish he had stayed there longer.

CBS local news replayed the phone call last night reporting there had been a death by hanging at his home address. They didn't say anything about it, just played it, I suppose because it hadn't been verified. I assumed it was the local 911 operator who seemed to be passing the info along to the authorities.

Does anyone know if he was close with his adult children? Did he have Grandchildren?

It was reported that two weeks ago on Instagram, Robin posted a photo of himself with his daughter Zelda when she was a toddler. He wished her a Happy 25th Birthday and told her he loved her. I know he also has a son with his first wife and if I'm not mistaken, he has a child or two with Marcia, his former nanny that he left his first wife for. They are now divorced and he was married a third time but has no children with wife #3.

Judging by Zelda's emotional tribute to her father this morning, I would say that they were close, but at 25 years old, she is definitely on her own and probably didn't have daily contact with her parents as she's leading her own life now.

Last night on Dr. Drew there was a gal that toured with him in Iraq. She said he made sure he called his children every night. He was very close to them.

I was frankly surprised at how much information was shared at the news conference. Even though the details would have surfaced eventually, the graphic and intimate disclosure volunteered by the Sheriff official was off-putting.

Wow, so terrible to think how bad he was feeling, that he killed himself, and in this way.

It really shows the bad place he was in.

Still so hard to fathom for those of us who do not have experience with it.

They have to get in front of this, people are now beginning to question what they have found so far at the scene.

Topaz ,he did seem to love his kids and be very proud of them.....I really think that when people are hurting so bad with addiction, depression, etc, they start to think twisted thoughts, like "I am a burden on my family, they will be better off without me"....sad that they think that way....and by the way that is just my opinion.
