Have you seen a retina specialist yet? What is the doctor's recommendation?

I had a torn retina about 15 yrs. ago, and had to have emergency laser eye surgery to repair it. The first surgery did not work, fluid got under the repair, but had it done again, and I haven't had any problems since. The worse part was lying flat on your back with the bright light in your eyes, and that was it!

I have had issues with both eyes, including laser surgeries in both due to retinopathy and intraocular injections. I have also had a vitrectomy (i.e. surgery) in one.

For me, the worst part was recovering from the vitrectomy as I could not lie flat on my back for three months, bend over, or travel in a plane or over mountains (as changes I air pressure could affect recovery).

I would not worry, though. Even though some of the procedures may cause some discomfort, it is usually short-lived, and the results are always woth it.

My DH had a detached retina eons ago, so had surgery in a hospital. He had a blindfold on for many days, don't know how he stood it, but he has been fine since.

DH had epi-retinal membrane removal a few years ago - very good results.
