Re: Retailers Pushing

[ Edited ]

This recently happened to me on the Truekind website.  I was looking at bras and after decididng on trying on and added it to my cart, I looked at the 2 pack . Somehow it ended up in my cart, I never saw it till after I checked out and the payment was $67.  They had also signed me up for a monthly fee for I think free mailing.  Crazy.  Partly my fault of course, but trying to cancel is a nightmare,,  I called, sent emails etc to no avail.  Mind you it was about 10 min after i saw the amount that i called, emailed, even called Paypal etc.  SO  Truekind  told me it was to far into the process to cancel.  Ok, 10 minutes.  I dont think so.  So I'll be returning some of the items Im sure.  Now on to make sure thye cancelled the monthly subscription fee.

@meem120

I could have sworn my putting something in my cart "to think about" ended up as a completed sale to me too back around the holidays!

I’m sure it was my fault, but at least from then on I was very careful. It was as if the process skipped a step!

@LTT1.  You know, or maybe you don't that the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) has recently decreed that online subscription should be as easy to cancel as they are to join.   If you're having a hard time, I'd either threaten to or actually file a complaint with them which can be done online.

Somewhere I read there is an app that cancels subscriptions for you.  Maybe a Google search would help...

@jlkz.  I looked into that and discovered that you have to give an unknown entity your banking/CC information.  I just didn't feel comfortable doing that.

@LTT1   When even the largest of the retailers are struggling to maintain the level of business they need to survive, I think you're right on target feeling they are all desperate to find ways to convince us to spend more.

I believe even the scammers must be desperate.  I'm getting more and more of them every week.

I think you can block companies on your credit card. Might be worth a try.

Indeed this seems more common now.  I have to keep opting out.  Honestly, I can't think anything I want on automatic.

I also opted out of easy pay long too.  Keeping an eye on returns and number of payments was too much for me.

@LTT1   subscription is a very vague term to me i order online from several vendors but my only "subscription(?)" is belonging to amazon prime

I can change that by not paying for it and that's it.

@LTT1

It makes no difference today.

I have been to sites I have never been to before looking at products. I don't have an account with these places. Next thing I know I'm receiving emails from them??? I didn't sign up asking for them.

Yesterday I received 20 spam emails in my spam folder? That's never happened before?
