Oh, this is good news!

It needs to stop and I guess a lot of others are feeling this way too.

You make a good point.

I am really very sorry that some are having trouble...I wish sometimes there were as many choices as pre-COVID, but whatever they are experiencing, I'd like to think that somehow our right are protected!

privacy rights, etc.

@LTT1.  You know, or maybe you don't that the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) has recently decreed that online subscription should be as easy to cancel as they are to join.   If you're having a hard time, I'd either threaten to or actually file a complaint with them which can be done online.

@Kachina624

OMG... What I had to do to search the site and all the time I wasted in order to find way to cancel a subscription was unbelievable!!!  It just makes me wonder if all this technology wastes more of our valuable time more than it saves..... 🤔I hope the FTC can do something about this! I only have a couple subscriptions but companies try to force us in order to even watch sports or movies these days....

@LTT1   subscription is a very vague term to me i order online from several vendors but my only "subscription(?)" is belonging to amazon prime

I can change that by not paying for it and that's it.

Watch out for Amazon Prime scams, there's a recent one that tells you your subscription needs renewal and asks for your credit card and info.....when in actuality your Prime has in fact already been paid...ITS A SCAM...Always check the prime website itself don't click links on the email

"May 9 (Reuters) - The U.S. Federal Trade Commission is delaying implementation of a rule set to take effect next week that would require businesses to make it as easy to cancel subscriptions and memberships as it is to sign up, to give companies more time to comply, the agency said on Friday.

The rule that has drawn cheers from consumer groups and a lawsuit from business associations was set to take effect on May 14. The FTC will now begin enforcing it on July 14, according to the announcement...."

There is much more to the article, but it has political references, so you can search for it if you're interested.

@Spurt@geezerette. The regulation was due to go into effect in July, but they announced this week that a court order has delayed or canceled it.  Something about not having done an impact study before trying to implement it.

Sorry but this makes me laugh.  The regulation is good for us; not good for corporations.

LOVE Duck Duck Go.

BTW ... did you know that ANYTHING you ever look up via Google is out there FOREVER.

Google keeps it and can access it if, for instance, a Prosecutor wanted to know what kinds of thing a person was looking at before they allegedly committed a crime.

People get convicted in part because of their Google searches all the time!

@Tinkrbl44

If I was going to commit a crime I wouldn't be looking up info on my computer. LOL!!!

It's too much for me too!

Although the company makes it sound as if they will be doing you a favor,

what would happen to me is that I'd get an email saying

"Your _______ has shipped"!
And I would never be ready for another one,

So the anxiety of trying to keep up with it was wearing!
