My brother lives in Cape May county. He told me their DMV is a beta facility for the new IDs. He was advised, the 7 point system will still be enforced.

@Mz iMac . I might have mentioned before that I grew up in south Jersey (Camden County) but live in PA now. PA is just as behind as NJ with the real ID license.

@bikerbabe Thanks for sharing this! I was wondering about this the other day as I had originally planned on taking care of this the week of April 6th (when I was supposed to be on vacation from work).......

i tried to order a replacement SS card online, but it said i was not eligible for some reason? i will have to go into the SS office and apply for a new one.

It depends on what state you live in. For some reason, the requirements vary WIDELY from state to state, which sort of defeats the purpose of the whole thing.

I had 7 forms of ID and proof of residency AND a passport, but because I did not have an actual SS card - no Real ID for me.

But I have F& F in other states that got one with a drivers license and one other ID no SSN or card and got one.

I say take a gamble and try.

When my license was last renewed, it was the first week of Real ID. I got mine on day 4 and found the process to be quite easy. I got it done at my local AAA office and it was easy breezy. I live in Massachusetts, not sure if this can be done in all states at the AAA office. There are many options in each category for ID.

@sunshine45 My daughter also tried to order a replacement SS card online but was told she was not eligible. She has her SS card but accidentally laminated it years ago before she realized it wouldn't be valid if she did.

@Eileen in Virginia Thanks. Though I already had the requirements sent to me when I was notified I needed to get the new license.

Then when I got up in line the attendant gave me another list and actually put everything I needed (and my papers I had) into a blue plastic envelope. I have everything except the SSN card.

Since my husband died I even brought just in case his death certificate.

Anyway, thanks for offering. That was very nice of you.
