Re: Random Posts About Queen Elizabeth

I saw this idiot run in front of the motorcade and stop in front of the car carrying the King an Camilla just to get a picture, no less !

The Secret Service said he'd never know how close he got to dying

they thought he had a gun aimed at the car.

Bet some magazine put him up to it and offered to give him money for a picture of the 2 in the car. Almost got the guy killed.

saw this on the news by the way few hrs. ago. Most people thought it was a assassination attempt.    I'm afraid this isn't the last time that Charles will have to be on the look out for these loons.

Re: Random Posts About Queen Elizabeth

I don't know, I've heard and read and watched these series (the Queen, etc...) and it seems like in pics she was a warm, hands on mother.  But was she?

Weren't they all raised by nannies and sent to boarding schools?  I'm pretty sure I've seen it mentioned Charles was lonesome and bullied and homesick, but forced.

Didn't Philip have affairs and Elizabeth tolerated it?  So the pics may show one thing, but the truth lies elsewhere.  I never saw them as a loving couple, but, just a couple out of duty, sort of.

And Elizabeth didn't seem to want to 'do the right thing' for Diana when she was killed.  I don't know if it was her decision or Philip's or her mother's, but *the people* weren't happy and she recanted.

Philip and her mother were much different than the picturess show, I do believe.

I realize she was born into this whole *world* and thus Charles was brought into it, too.  And his first marriage was a sham because of all of it.  It just seems like a surreal existance.

If Harry rebelled and left the life of royalty, I don't know why he would care if his children were *titled*.  He shouldn't.  If he was that against it, he should just walk away.  And he can make his money on Tell All books, if he wants to.  But perhaps the only money he should be living off of is what was left from his mother for him.  That had to be a handsome sum.

I saw where his father spoke of him after the Queen's death and he professed his love for his youngest and acknowledged his new life he started overseas.  But that was all he basically said.  I guess he's waiting to see what this book is about?  And he may go with the adage, don't bite the hand that feeds you?  That could very well be.  And rightfully so.

Just rambling, my thoughts.  Not trying to start a war or anything....

I don't think he would have ever left England if not for help from other.

He's made his bed now he has to cope. With grandma gone I don't think he will be going back much any more.

I'm glad to see they've reversed the decision and will allow Harry to wear his military uniform for some part of the funeral proceedings.  It seems some (Palace insiders?  Royal PTB?) pointed out the "exception" made for Andrew.

I would not wait two hours in line....let alone 30.

why not spend the time doing some good act to help the world..... feed the poor....lend a helping hand to someone in need...rather  than standing waiting to see this? Do not get it.

@SeaMaiden

ITA .... if this is a custom, fine, but I don't think this really shows more respect than perhaps doing something in her honor that would actually matter.

When death announcements are made and it asks that contributions be made to the cancer society or a wildlife organization in lieu of flowers etc, I feel that something good comes of it, and what better honor is there to the departed?  They are gone and don't care who stood in line.

While many thought highly of Elizabeth, standing in line for 30 hours means nothing to her at this point.  Even a donation to the Rescue A Corgi foundation (if such a organization exists) would mean so much more.

JMO, of course.

You bring up good points.  The royals have a very effective PR firm that describes everything they do in superlatives, as though they never err.  We all know that's not possible for any human being.  Just public relations talking points to make them look good.

Jackie Kennedy said if you don't get raising your kids right, nothing else you do in life really matters.  When he was just a toddler, Elizabeth left Charles alone for six months because she had to go off and "do her duty".  Any other mother doing that would be crucified in the papers.

Phillip was known to have many affairs, yet all the PR talked about was their "wonderful love for each other".  I don't consider a cheating husband to be very respectful.  More than even the Diana marrying Charles references, Phillip "knew what he was getting into".  IMO, his repeated cheating was disrespectful.

Those that run "the firm" need to do what's necessary to keep their jobs, so the truth is sometimes irrelevant.  Just my opinion, of course.

Princes Andrew and Harry are true military veterans and should be allowed to wear their uniforms unless they had been court martialed.

I don't think she had it easy @lgfan But the Queen was born into that life. It was easier for her to adapt. The other three were thrust into a world they did not know.
