Maybe I am mistaken, but at one time, I thought the hosts were to wait until products aired before placing an order for their personal use.  Last night on PMS, the host informed the world that her order was placed before the item aired.  I have a problem with this type of announcement, especially when the product is a "sure" hit.  It just sounded kind of snippy and snarky and a bit unprofessional.  In the past I have heard hosts say something like, "Save me one in  'x' size", but apparently that is not the case anymore.  Too bad as I believe hosts from other stations are polite enough to not make that statement, or they wait until after their shift to make a purchase.  Maybe this isn't a big deal, but elections have been won & lost on 1 vote!  Hope nobody wanted the item in an XS, Black!  I hope this comment isn't deleted for content, I am not being mean or rude, merely stating things I have heard in the past!

they can either do that before the show and not announce it on the air so people won't get upset then nobody would know the difference. LOL

My take is that it is a selling tactic.

They know which colors are moving or not so announcing they have already bought one in a certain color to me pretty much guarantees they are just pushing the slower selling items.

Or if an item is dragging in sales they will push the "this is my favorite I own several" schtick to sell sell sell.

They count on the customers who just have to beat everyone else out to get that item in that color.  And there are folks who buy that way - have to get it before somebody else does.  LOL

Librarians get all the hit books first like Stephen KIng books before the folks on the reserve list.  Perks.  When people take stuff to the Goodwill the workers cherry pick for themselves.

workers at walmart get the hot xmas items before the public can come in on Black Friday and glean the shelves. My cousin works there. LOL

Sometimes the hosts will receive sample items ahead of  the show so they can talk about them.  This is especially true with food items.

I know that they receive "samples" of certain products, but I still feel that making that type of an announcement is tacky.  I would assume that an XS in black is the one that is purchased in a large quantity, but still......it just sounded snarky.  Maybe I am getting old and crochety, but even if it was a selling tactic, it probably should have been kept quiet.  It really didn't affect me per se as I don't purchase a lot from QVC anymore.  But, from the way the product sold out so quickly, the information could have not been publicized.  IMHO anyway.Smiley Frustrated

I worked in retain for over 20 years as a Tailor. We all know that to be a good sales person you have to know how to lie.

It is still the policy, but as we all know there are rules

for some, and rules for others.

As far as I am concerned, the Hosts can buy 100% of the stock in every color and size they want to before, during and after the presentation.

There has never been QVC item that I HAD to have.  If Something catches my eye and my color or size is gone,  someone just saved me money.

I think you are right. Before they had to wait until after the show to order. There are a few hosts who do the "I already ordered mine" comments.
