@c_la_veeIf I need to go, I just go. No one has died or caught a disease from a public bathroom that I have heard of......There are dirtier things that a toilet seat....your phone for instance.
Sure wash your your hands and use a paper hand towel to grab the door handle on the way out....but to go to the extremes that you are? No Way!😄

Once on a thread about public restrooms, I said I have no luck with those seat covers. By the time I'm ready to sit down it has fallen into the water. A poster told me that was way, way TMI. LOL I hope she's not reading this.

@TenderMercieswrote:Just keep alcohol wipes in your purse to wipe down the seat, wash your hands when you’re finished, and use the towel you use to dry your hands as a barrier on the door handle when you’re exiting. There’s just as many germs on your credit cards, car seat, steering wheel, movie theater seat, and church pew. There’s no need for these productions that so many are going through.
Don't forget to add restaurant menus
@mantaraye Also magazines in Doctor/ dentist offices are REALLY FILTHY!

I've scanned this thread, and all I have to say is, some of you must never need to use a restroom when there is a line...
Like at the theater during intermission, in an airport during busy times, etc.
I've never done anything more than run in, do my thing, get out, and wash my hands. I'm very healthy! Also, very aware that other ladies are waiting to use the facilities.

I might add concerts and sports events.

I have digestive problems and have had to use dirty restrooms that I wish I didn’t have to. My choices are limited in an emergency...have an accident ( which I have, many times) or use the dirty facilities. I will cover the seat if it is dirty.
i hate when women straddle the toilet and do not sit down. They leave the seat wet for the next person.
I saw a program on TV where they checked public restrooms for germs. Most of the toilet seats were clean, the sinks and door knobs were full of germs.
@Carmie, I am highly insulted at your slam against the high-risers among us. I don't know about my fellow perchers, but I have never, ever left an errant drop. It's all in the positioning and heck, who knows, maybe in the size of one's derriere.
Sorry but I have to say that so often you go in a stall and someone has hovered, peed on the seat and walked away. DISGUSTING! And unnecessary.
@Sooner, don't be sorry. This is a very fluid thread, but I never anticipated people actually getting so serious about it. I should have, of course. C'est la vie.
@suzyQ3 LOL!!! I'm sorry grown women do this!
@suzyQ3 Sorry I forgot to note the great pun! (above)

@c_la_veewrote:Do you have one or do you just walk in and do your business without any concern?
Just curious
Here is mine and you might think I exagerate but don't care! LOL
I walk in and take a napkin if they have them.
With it I open the door to the stall and latch it closed without touching a thing.
Discard the towel and take some toilet paper and wipe the seat off well, flush it down to get cleaner water. I use another piece of toilet paper to touch the flush handle.
Take 4, yes 4, toilet seat covers and put 2 sort of up and down, making sure to cover everything so that there is over-hang, the other 2 go sideways so now the seat is completely covered.
I don't bother to tear the covers open as they open when you sit down.
When finished, I have to flush 2 or 3 times with all that paper but it always works.
Always use a piece of toilet paper to touch the flush handle and another to unlatch the door and open it.
Wash hands with soap, use a paper towel to open door to restroom.
If I go in to a restroom that is gross, I will hold it, I will do anything but use that restroom. I would rather go outdoors behind a bush than use a filthy restroom.
Airplanes are another problem for me because people seem to get sloppy in them so I have been known to hold it, even on long flights, until I get to the next airport. I never drink tea or coffee on planes because they are diuretic.
In the airport, if they have an airline or American Express lounge, I go there.
What's your routine?
Public restrooms --- yuck. Sometimes you just have to grit your teeth and go!!! I try to be as careful as I can be without going crazy over it. I use the paper toilet seat covers but first I wipe them off with a ton of t.p. Depending on the type of toilet, I might use my foot to flush. Other kind, I will use t.p. to shield and then flush. Scrub hands very well with soap and water. Dry thoroughly. Take another towel if the door is such that I can't just push to get out and use the towel over the handle. Boom --- done!

I am not that picky. Got to go when I have to go.
The only place I try to avoid are outhouses. (especially if they are in the summer months)

@c_la_veewrote:@Ms tyrion2 Hi, no no, you didn't read it wrong!
Yes that's me.
If they have a waste bin I use it and if not...the person that is supposed to clean will...clean!
Do you do a big hair flip after you close the restroom door?

Since I have autoimmune issues, I always carry a couple of pairs of vinyl gloves with me. That takes care of pretty much everything I have to touch. I don't touch my face with them. I take them off before I open my apartment door (they wind up inside out) and toss them into the trash. Then I wash my hands anyway.
Doctors' offices, especially during flu season, I also wear a mask (and I'm usually not the only one).
