I wonder why.

Maybe they're on a fixed income ?

If it's any consolation to those up in arms about a courtesy to the pregnant or moms with young children among us I saw a woman well past childbearing age pull in to one out of 2 ""mom spots"" this afternoon at the grocery store. The # of handicapped spots available is 14.

I never understood the need for ""pregnancy spots."" It is good for you to walk -- especially when pregnant.

If there is a medical reason why anyone cannot walk a long distance from a space to a retail store -- a doctor can assist one to receive a handicapped placard if only for a temporary need.

Hey you, get off of my cloud...

I don't have an issue with them. During cancer treatment, the radiation department had 10 spots right outside its doors for cancer patients. I was so angry when I'd see people pull into spots next to me and then go walking off to the entrance to the hospital (radiation therapy was it's own part of the hospital with its separate and only entrance). Your body takes too long to bounce back from chemo and then going straight into radiation therapy and to walk just a few feet was often beyond exhausting. Today, if I have to walk a ways, I'm just grateful that I have the ability to do so.

Just went to the dentist the other day and noticed the oral surgeon next door has one parking spot for pickup of those patients who have just had surgery and I don't have an issue with that either.

I don't wonder why at all.

I would rather not have a disability and have to pay than HAVE a disability and get a free parking spot.

I am blessed I have great health and the ability to own a vehicle and be able to pay to park.

I can't believe this thread is still going on and on and on.

If the spaces bother you so much, maybe you should start arranging protests at the retailers who offer them. My goodness!

Earlier this week Snooki shared the above picture on Instagram, adding, "I feel special again." Then one of her followers complained: "So you can work out but walking 30 more feet would kill you? Shame. Shame."

Snooki responded, “I parked in the stork section at babies r us because I am expecting. I got excited to park there again. I went to the store tonight at 7 pm. There were only 5 cars in the parking lot so I am sure I wasn’t putting any further along pregnant women in harms way. I didn’t park in the spot because I’m lazy, I parked because I’m excited to be pregnant again."

Snooki continued, "Lighten up people. Always see a problem in EVERYTHING I post. I’ll never get it. God bless. And I’ll be sure to park my pregnant azss in the last parking spot or the parking lot and post a picture to satisfy you.”

It's obvious that Snooki doesn't fully comprehend the reason for those special parking spaces - she sees them as a badge of honor or a celebratory cling of the champagne glasses. Does it really surprise anyone? Unfortunately, there are many Snooki's in the world. Anything that will shine a spotlight . . .

ETA: Sad that she doesn't "feel special" just by living her life. Maybe that kind of insecurity is the reason for so many needing "special" attention even when they don't physically need it. Wink

PG women need to walk. They had this a few years back at my Raley's store, but have since taken the sign down. Wish they had them when I was PG 55 years ago. I did walk two miles a day right to the end. We were told to walk everyday. We had some PG moms in the step acrobic class, something not done in my day. You could walk, but not exercise with Jack L.

Where were these signs when I lost my car at SF airport with two toddlers and one in the bun?

At a Walgreen's store in my area, the first four or five parking spots are regular and then they start the Handicap ones. I asked why, it doesn't make sense. They said the city did it that way. I am not one of the handicap, but they should protest this, I am going to the city to find out why, healthy people can park in front, and the handicap way down the line. I saw a lady with her walker and caregiver struggle out of the van, and then have to walk all that way to the store, while a young healthy person can park right in front of the store. There is injustice in everything today.
