@cowboy sam : Good idea, thanks. Our VFW location and staff are very small , older than us and handicapped. They have really reduced breakfast, lunch and now only have one BBQ in the fall. Really sad.

Great idea to check with VFW or other organizations.  There are many programs for help, but so many of us fall into the category that we have too much income to be considered, but not enough to purchase outright without help.

Also, @SouthernBee , whatever you decide on, make sure you find out about repair and maintenance on the chair.  And a warranty.  I'm sure something like that will need specialized maintenance which may be expensive.

@geezerette : Totally agree. We are not rich but have a good income and don't qualify for so many things.

I have Tricare insurance but my primary insurance must pay first. Extra help that Tricare provides that so many people have said that I am eligible for is not true.

The wheelchair has a warranty and the durable medical store will do repairs when needed and have the extra parts, these are the extra reasons that I wanted to purchase locally. The wheelchair is $50 cheaper on line and several similar chairs are $1000 cheaper but with my bad lower back and shorter leg really need to sit in chair and try first. Some things aren't easy and simple.

I sure agree about that!

I also have paid more for some things that were cheaper online but I have needed to get locally.  If I were in your place I'd do the same thing.  This isn't something that if you don't like you can just toss out and replace in a few months.

@geezerette : Totally agree. I am going to see if my two friends can take me back to the store. I need to have plenty of time to test drive, trying to get in and out of the wheelchair , ask a lot of  questions etc. DH is  always in a big hurry. This is a major purchase. I will treat my friends to lunch. I desperately need girl day out.

i agree that ur 2 friends may be more patient than ur DH

this is a game changer for you - for inside the home and out

u take ur time and only you know what is best for you
