I am in northern Virginia and lost all TV this morning. Phone and internet OK. When I called Comcast to report the outage, I got a recorded message to the effect that due to emergency conditions they could not answer the call....call back later. Emergency? There are 4 inches of snow. This is an emergency?

I have comcast and I could only get local channels for about 2 hours this morning. (10 am til 12 noon). It just came back on to watch other channels. Must have been a glitch or they were working on something. Who knows?

With all the problems with the fiber optic lines cut in the bay area this may just be a new (terror) threat.

@de1rdre, The emergency is the fact that they have a major problem spanning the entire country, so their support lines were overwhelmed with calls.

It was just on local news at noon that parts of several states the coverage is out.

I have not turned on the television yet but phone and internet connection is working. Comcast has got to be the worst cable provider ever. I had to call them at least twice a week (probably more than that) over the past month or two. One of the problems I encountered was that I could not change the channel and this happened more than once. Phone often goes out - not to mention internet problems. And of course, they charge an arm and a leg for their service.

I do the same thing as dooBdoo, check online.
Its a complicated system, way beyond my knowledge base.
Last week my neighbor called me on his cell phone asking if we had phone service. We did, he didn't. He called a friend who works for Comcast, who told him the company was adding lines which was affecting the phone service for some customers. He had him unplug and replug his modem and the phones operated again.
It would be nice if they could initiate some notification system that would alert customers when they were experiencing issues.

Yes. All I could get was 'Mayberry,' which I never watched in the first place.
I just turned it off. They will fix it.
